Re: Pistons sign Moreland.
Boo, it's been fixed. But at least the thread title in my post still says "sing".
Anyways, harmless signing with potentially a high reward pay-off. Worse FT shooter than Dre though, so he's not on the floor in crunch time either, and Boban can't be because of his defense. So I assume we go small with Jon Leuer.
Does Moreland spend more time in Detroit or Grand Rapids though? Barring injury or trade he's behind Dre/Boban/Leuer at Ce and Leuer/Mook/Harris/Ellenson at PF.
Wonder what the terms are. I assume league minimum, but will it be two year with a TO 3rd year? That would be my bet - he gets two years guaranteed and in return Detroit gets the third year TO to get his full Bird Rights if he amounts to anything at all. Odds are long, but Hassan Whiteside is a thing.

he’s somehow a worse free throw shooter than Andre Drummond. He shot 37 percent over three years in the D-League. Drummond’s 38 percent has him beat.LOL

I hope Moreland outplays Andre this year, takes his starting job, and then Stan has to bring Andre in at the end of games as the free-throw specialist.

Love what I have seen from Moreland in summer league and in the d league, the guy brings it on defense and has sooo much energy.

Re: Pistons sign Moreland.
I like what I saw overall from Moreland. Its a low risk move making him our 3rd center so I'm all for it, especially since he has some upside. My biggest criticism, from watching the summer league games, is he seemed to fumble passes too often but I'm not sure how good the passes were in the first place. Either way, he doesn't look to have great hands.

Meh - I can't imagine he'll see much time on the active roster. At least its a minimum deal. Can't really go wrong with those.

Perfect 3rd center signing. Vet's minimum, can possibly play in a pinch.

Re: Pistons sign Moreland.
That's the rest of the MLE. Now we only have the full BME to get a back-up SF - something like $3.2M.
I don't like that - Moreland shouldn't get more than league minimum. And if he was going to be poached for more elsewhere, so be it.
$4.7M for a SF free agent vs $3.2M is going to be a much different caliber player.

The Pistons only had the full BAE to use on one player anyways. They couldn't have combined what was left of the MLE with the BAE.
I don't think this is a huge deal since the plan should be minimum contracts for the rest of the roster anyways, but it's interesting that Moreland got more than that. I wonder how though. Not sure if it's a flat $1.7 million or increasing from $1.7 million.
