Kelly is an absolutely fantastic signing for us
I am really excited about our roster, and everything we can do.
Olynk will probably get about 25 minutes of ball at the starting 4 spot. He allows us to go big on teams, and is a very versatile offensive threat that can hit from 3. He is also capable of giving us minutes at the 5 if need be. For those of you who don't know Kelly, the guy is a dog. You could argue that he was the heart and sole of the Celtics over the last couple of years. He's a warrior, and isn't well liked around the league because he's a bit nasty, dirty, and plays extremely hard.
Kelly Olynk signals a move to bully ball from the Miami Heat. The Heat are now versatile enough to play any type of style, but what sets them apart is their physicality and toughness. This team just feels like Heat basketball, and while we are not the Warriors, we are doing something very different than the rest of the league.
His contract is an absolute bargain, at 26 he represents somebody who fits with our core age wise, and has room to grow in his own right.
Dragic/TJ
Dion/Elington/JRich
Mcgruder/Winslow
Olynk/JJ/Haslem
Whiteside/Bam
In my biased opinion we are the deepest most versatile team in the NBA. Some teams have more fire power, but I bet nobody will have more grit and desire night in and out. That in itself is going to win us a lot of regular season games, get us in a 7 game series, and I bet this team plays like a 90s Knicks vs Heat series, only difference is other teams aren't ready to get dirty like that these days.
If one of Dion, Winslow, or Bam can develop into a real star in the next 2 seasons, we have a special group around them in regards to role players and fit.
