I'm hoping we negotiate with kcp in hypotheticals, telling him what our deal would be if Porter is matched. If kcp is smart he'll wait til Sunday where he has a clearer picture.

Look at this from KCP's perspective...would you sit there and wait, or take the best offer that comes to you within that six days time?

he's not going to wait. The Nets just got **** ed.

the only real threat I can think of is ATL having THJR off the books... how much space do they have? Would KCP jump on an offer from them? He did play at GA Tech, right?

I think he'll get 4/58

I mainly agree. I would be shocked if he got more than 16 a year if the deals 3 or 4 years.

Not sure....why would he wait if ATL can offer a nice deal?

Even though the cap space may be tied up for six days, we'll know the decision within two days. If we know porter is matched, we can start negotiating with better offers, and just wait another four days to officially sign him. At least, that is what I think should happen.

And if I'm kcp and I know the nets might give me a better offer, I'd wait until they were able to, at least so I can have one more option. It's really negotiation 101.

Have to disagree. There's still that tiny chance Washington doesn't match and this is all happening because we signed Porter. He was the domino which needed to fall for a flurry of league wide action to commence.

Also, KCP on anything 4/68 and below is a good deal, but if we miss out on him he's not a can't miss player. Personally I wouldn't be upset about it.

KCP running with Russell, Lin, & Levert is legit heaven

And RHJ at the 5, wow!

But our fate is not in our own hands now......

I don't get why Detroit have to renounce, they could have tried some kinda sign and trade?

The 2 players KCP reminds me of the most, stylistically are Kittles and Eddie Jones.

I think they needed the cap room for their Galloway signing and Bradley contract

In Boston people wondered if Avery Bradley (who was just traded to Detroit, leading to Detroit renouncing KCP) would go because he is not a good ball handler. Brad Stevens of Celtics does not believe in five positions - he categorizes players into three groups - ball handlers, wings and bigs.

Nets seem to be going in direction of fewer-positions basketball too - where versatility and ability to create mismatches are name of game

Yep both are good comps. His agility is obvious on the defensive end, wish he was a more consistent shooter though. Not sure if he's a better shooter at certain spots and he can be used more efficiently with less ball handling responsibilities?

Wait, hold on. Can someone explain to me why we even want KCP?

His numbers are not pretty: career 40.5% FG, 33% 3PT, not much contributions elsewhere, and average defender. Also, if Russell and Levert are getting 30mpg, then you only have 36 mpg to spread around with Kilpatrick, Goodwin, Whitehead, Harris.

Why didn't we just go for Green or Olynyk or Dedmon?

People have this idea that he's an elite defender because of highlights and he is a the last "big" name remaining. Personally I think he's bad and takes dumb ass shots without the ability to make them. However I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him at like 12-13 million a year. Anything above that is (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
