People need to stop looking on the numbers and start paying attention around the league; everybody is overpaying everybody. At least we are overpaying people we know who can contribute.

I guess Haywards gonna play 2 guard then.
Is Hayward fast enough to defend guards in big minutes? In another post I mentioned that Bradley took a lot of defensive responsibility off of IT. Hayward is going to get his exercise picking up the slack if he starts at SG.
I assume Jaylen will cover 2's and then Tatum/Hayward will decide between the 3/4 ?
I assumed the starting 5 would be it, Hayward, crowder, Morris, and horford now. Ive never seen Hayward guard 4's.

Honestly, jj is the only guy I think we overpaid. Olnynk and waiters are decent deals. Tjs cap number sucks after this season, but the overall deal is alright

If Bam can actually cover 4's and 5's I think there is a chance he carves out a very nice role. If the plan is to keep JJ off the bench, I could see us
Starting Bam at the 4.
Taking him out for JJ
Putting him in at the 5 with JJ at the 4
Putting him at the 4 with Olynyk at the 5 and JJ at the 1/3
then bringing him back out and letting JJ finish the half/game.
15 minutes similar to the role Babbitt played however we will be much better defensively.

I thought that Waiters deal is a bit smaller/right around where I expected it to be so it's an okay deal.
Olynyk's is alright, maybe 2M/yr overpaid but not that terrible IMO, still tradeable down the line too as well
James Johnson, we love this dude and I'm sure that, combined with Waiters' deal in perspective, balances things out

My issue is with the length of the contracts. I don't care about what they are getting paid. It's not my money.

People think we overpaid of Olynk
Taj Gibson is making 13.5 million next year at 32 years of age
TAJ GIBSON
Tristen Thompson is getting paid 16.5 million
Kelly is going to be a fan favorite, believe me folks, you just wait till he start banging down clutch 3s and getting other players ejected.

2020 my friend, everybody expires in 2020
There is a reason for that, all set for ZOs first off-season at the helm

On a side note, am I the only one who thinks throughout all these years that Ira has absolutely ZERO sauces inside the team? Has he ever got something first without referring to others or saying "Sun-Sentinel confirms..." Dude is absolutely clueless.

Wouldve liked to get KCP. Stay competitive 2020 hopefully we'll have pieces to make some moves. Right now there isnt much Pat can do except stay competitve or tank.

Ira does have some good analytical ability though. He tells you the dynamics of the team, but not the breaking news.
Proud embarrassment

Yeah ESPECIALLY the jj deal. Dude is 30. He's not gonna be worth his cap number by the 3rd or 4th year. This could get ugly

He's also very cynical. I feel like he's a very pessimistic person lol

I'm starting to realize no matter who we sign it's always a good signing on these boards. "He's a Miami king of player. He fits our style etc etc". When Olynyk became a FA I don't recall any poster here saying let's target him.

On another note I hope Winslow sees and opportunity to be the legit face of the Heat and take control of it.

I think Bradley>than kcp but you could think of it as Bradley for kcp and Morris in a trade. I think this is a net negative for the pistons overall talent level.

You should probably go back and look at the Dion Waiters signing and you will see something different

I think a lot of people didn't even realize he was an option. Riley has a way finding opportunity in every setback that few possess. In this case, he lost out on Hayward so he went after the guy the C's had to release as a result.
As for the Olynyk signing itself, I don't think Olynyk is going to make the Heat title contenders. Oftentimes though, it's the small moves that lead to bigger things.

It's not the best or most suggested signing but what are we going to do? Say "Boycott the season!!! Waive Olynyk!!"?
I mean we just have to ride it out with what Pat and co. put together.
