If the Nets can get him on the cheap then I'm all for it. Don't feel we need to max out any players even Porter.

Believe that's correct. Woj just reported that we're going to be an aggressive pursuer of KCP.

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread II
I'd rather roll the cap over and just go with Skil, Whitehead, Harris, Goodwin, hell even resign McDaniels.
I'm a STRONG pass on KCP, I just don't see any value relative to just going with the status quo, even we get KCP at some discounted rate. This would be Marks's first bust for me.

Look at this from KCP's perspective...would you sit there and wait, or take the best offer that comes to you within that six days time?
he's not going to wait. The Nets just got **** ed.
the only real threat I can think of is ATL having THJR off the books... how much space do they have? Would KCP jump on an offer from them? He did play at GA Tech, right?
Not sure....why would he wait if ATL can offer a nice deal?

i'd rather take this guy for less than max instead of losing out on him because we want to put the wizards in salary cap hell. aw man, Marks kind of f'd up here is my initial view
This is a hot take dude. Why wouldn't he wait? The money isn't going anywhere. Its not like getting line wherever the line is shortest

I like Kcp his defense is suffocating, I actually prefer him over Porter.

I don't see anyone on the Pistons board really clamoring to keep KCP either.

They just got Bradley why would they want to overpay to keep OPJ?
During the season, the piston board was full of KCP support. Alot of people said he was the only guy on the team who played like he gave a ****. They were hoping there was a way to keep him without overpaying

KCP's young and I kinda like his game but his numbers aren't pretty. I'm not really sure how he fits with Lin/Russell/LeVert either. We'd be betting on significant improvement if we sign him long term.

I have a feeling the Nets will promise him around 4/80 if the Wizards match Porter.

I don't think anyone will go over the THJ deal. Could be wrong, but don't see a big bidding war because teams don't have much room.

Not familiar with Bulls beat writers. Is he credible?
That's not inside info or anything, its just what everybody is thinking.

You're probably right, I just have a bad gut feeling that Marks may get a little too excited that's all lol.

There's a difference between supporting a hardworking player who makes 3m/year and signing him for near-max money. I don't see any Piston fan wanting to keep him for 4/80, even before Bradley.
Someone give me a good reason! I feel like I must be missing something. I looked at this college stats at Georgia and they were pretty mediocre too.

Marks doesn't seem like a Billy King type idiot.

Seriously, who are we supposed to sign with these 'pretty' numbers? Porter is one and we won't get him.
KCP can do everything a 3&D wing does. Catch and shoot, defend passing lanes, etc. Is he inefficient? Yes but wasn't that the whole point of hiring Marks and his developmental staff? KCP is 24.
I hated the idea of maxing him. I have no problem signing him outright. We won 20 games and he started on a playoff team and did well. Can we say that about anybody here except Lin?
I'd negotiate anything up to 75-80. Thats my limit.

I have doubts too. Hes 6'5"" , not a ball handler, not reliable offense , hangs his hat on defense but is not extraordinary. Nets chose Porter over him for a reason. But at the right price it could lmake sense. He's not bad. and will probably get better under Kenny. Pistons had him guarding toughest defensive guard assignments last year amd we don't have any defensive specialists at wing so far.
Long term - who know what will shake out.

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread II
Question - if Marks wanted to negotiate with KCP right now, before the decision gets made on Porter by the Wiz, how much could we offer?
My quick math counting Porter has us at ~80M committed to the 12 main guys who we know will be on the team next year (Porter 25, Moz 15, Lin 12, Booker 9, Nicholson 6, Russell 5, Hamilton 3, LeVert 1.6, RHJ 1.5, Skil 1.5, Whitehead 1.1, Harris 1.5). Jarrett Allen's cap hold is 1.2M. Dinwiddie, Acy and Goodwin are not guaranteed.
So theoretically, if we wanted to could we cut/renounce some guys and open up enough room to offer KCP somewhere around 15M/year? Or if we wanted to keep almost all the above just deal off Hamilton?
Edit - forgot Deron's 5.5M dead space. So to afford both we'd either need to dump Hamilton and some combo of Skil/Harris/Goodwin or Booker.

Re: 2017 Nets Offseason Thread II
Only problem I have with Kcp is he shot 39% on the court, not so good. This move makes J.lin expendable, I won't be surprised to see him traded by the trade deadline.
