Last i heard is they are trying to fit into space. Elisburg working cap gymnastics. He has to make it through waivers to use MLE. Think they are trying to avoid him hitting waivers.

i estimate we will win 46-50 games next season. the east is pretty soft.

40 wins probably gets you in the playoffs

went 31-10 over 2nd half, .750 win pct.

we are probably closer to our overall record of .500 than our 2nd half success

probably a .600 team, translates to slightly more than 49 wins.

I think it's still too early to figure out where teams rank in the East. Heat are looking promising though.

I'm looking forward to the team being competitive. Look, we aren't winning a title in the near future as currently constructed but does that really matter given how the Warriors are currently constructed? I think the team being competitive will also help in showing the value of a lot of these guys which will help for trade scenarios down the road. I'm just going to enjoy the ride and watch the team develop. The 2nd half of the season last year was so much fun even without making the playoffs. Looking forward to something close to that and I'm a happy HEAT fan.

we are a kyrie/love injury away from the east being WIDE open.

we beat golden state this season. not saying we are winning it all this season, but this team is something of a wild card, we have some real talented high ceiling guys that if they are on, anything is possible. combing that with some perfect role players in ellington, tj, mcgruder, jj and this is going to be an exciting season.

I think it also says that if they can't sign a big free agent, and are willing to bring their guys back and eat up all their cap space, they believe their next star is already on the roster. That guy is Justise Winslow. If he can make a leap, that treadmill will explode. He's the ultimate wildcard.

Not looking like we are making a move for a SF. Winslow-J Rich-McGruder it is. I could live with that. We do desperately need another PG tho. We currently have one roster spot left

C Hassan Whiteside C Kelly Olynyk C AJ Hammons
PF James Johnson PF Bam Adebayo C/PF Udonis Haslem
SF Josh Richardson SF Justise Winslow SF Okaro White
SG Dion Waiters SG Wayne Ellington SG/SF Rodney McGruder
PG Goran Dragic PG Tyler Johnson PG (15) open roster spot

This is a team that is a lot better than it looks. I don't think going 30-11 in the 2nd half is a fluke. There's no reason not to be optimistic that a team that has a strong bond and a cohesive unit (with good coaching) won't play well together and improve on last year. This team has a lot of depth and versatility. They had one of the best benches in the league last year. They won't be in another 11-30 hole which ultimately proved to be too much to climb out of. They aren't winning the title or the east, but I think they are more competitive than you guys are making them out to be.

Why would Ellington have to go through waivers if we simply don't exercise our Team Option?

We wouldn't be waiving Ellington.

I think mid to high 40s is a good indicator. The higher 25% win total could be 50-53 wins. It wouldn't shock me in the conference we play in. I think there's always the fear that we may repeat the mistake that the blazers made with us getting fooled by a hot second half and bringing our guys back with the assumption that the team will gel again and improve, but we're in a weaker conference and I think our team is a lot hungrier and more unified than theirs was.

Washington isn't the only team in a bind, Milwakee has Parker as an RFA and Monroe as an UFA next offseason.

Another depressing situation is Toronto. Their uninspiring SL of Lowry/DeRozan/Ibaka/Jonas/Carroll is locked in for the next 2 seasons at:

$108.92 in '17-18
$114.68 in '18-19

Again, that's just their starting 5, with their best player and engine Lowry regressing by the minute. In '19-20 Carroll comes off the books but they're still at $104.43 for the other 4 and Lowry will by 33 by this point

Just look at this for 2019:

Lowry $33.33
DeRozan $27.74
Ibaka $21.67
Valanciunas $16.54
Carroll $15.40

Here is the problem for Miami for the next 4 seasons....

Image

[*]This was an very unusual move by Pat Riley, which makes me feel he has one foot outside the door.

[*]Pat Riley builds teams to win now, this team can't get past the 2nd round.

[*]After seeing GSW destroy the Cavs, I felt Pat was going to hang it up sooner than later.

[*]The last two offseasons have been hard on Pat with No Durant, Lost Wade, & No Hayward. I am not saying it wasn't financially beneficial for our team not to sign Wade but it had to hurt an already open wound left open from Lebron.

[*]What really is odd is overpaying players that would normally be bench players on most playoff teams, instead of signing Wade for 2 seasons. Now we have these bench players for 4 seasons.

[*]The game is changing and Pat Riley is just making sure we have a competitive team for the next few years with tradable contracts but not a team that is able to win even the Eastern Conference. I doubt he sticks around much longer to see what happens :(

I'm not doubting that we can be a top four team in the east because the east is terrible, I'm just doubting whether we'll improve significantly anytime soon.
Apparently, we believe the guys we have will either improve enough for us to be a very good team in the league or we believe that they're interesting enough assets to swing a deal for a disgruntled star player.
