Seriously, a deal needs to be made today unless someone wants to salary dump a decent player that Houston then would flip to us (but how decent can they be if HOU would be willing to dump them on us for Melo?)

Are there any players that might that criteria? Maybe a team looking to reduce their tax bill that's not contending? There aren't any worthwhile FA's left out there that a team would want to make cap space for are there? Except maybe KCP?

Oh no, of course I realize it'll have to be a 3 way. I'm just saying if no deal gets done today for Melo, they need to do something with those unguaranteed contracts, perhaps getting a decent role player in a salary dump from someone or a salary dump with asset(s) to then flip to us and/or POR to facilitate a trade.

Only the Ryan Kelly contract was gonna become guaranteed today so the Rockets released him

they still have some more non-guarantees they can use
