Wow - when you put it like that - very young team to be sure. Will be fun to watch them grow, learn, create a good chemistry together. Going to tune in tonight - maybe for a few minutes - just to see how they look Especially Jackson

Read on the general boards Rich Paul wanted 106 Million for 4 years for KCP??

He'll definitely ask for 35 Million a year for Bledsoe.... stuff that.

I don't see him (Bledsoe) getting more than holiday.
Kcp contract might tell us if trading him is a necessity

Rich Paul doesn't care what others are getting. He will demand a max for Bledsoe, just like last time.

And I wonder how many teams are happy 2 years after signing a Rich Paul client? I like Eric but I wish we'd let him walk rather than having paid him like a healthy superstar in the making. Fortunately, the new TV money saved us from our folly but even still, we won't get anywhere near his contract's worth of value out of him.

Well if you are the Suns - if you think Bledsoe is long term - keep him. If you don't get something of value as you are not winning the next two years and probably won't be making playoffs either.

I think they will be able to get more than that at the deadline. But then his knees might blow up again. Idk. At this point I'm inclined to hold on to him and go after Boogie next year.

Does Boogie fit with Chriss, Bender in the front court? I think a guy like Jackson can play with anybody

I think Chriss and Bender should be able to play with anyone. Same with Booker and Jackson. That's a big reason as to why they were drafted.

Is it ridiculous to think that Bender may come off the bench through his early 20's? Or maybe top out as a good rotation player? I think it's more likely than him becoming an all star.

Detroit renouncing is the best thing. Rich Paul has negotiated RFA contracts where teams feel obligated to resign their youngster. He is now going to have to do negotiations on the open market. He never did get a competing bid for Bledsoe.

I think he will wait for the Nets and get what he wants.

Yeah, and trade Bledsoe or Chandler if needed, unless you want to let Bledsoe walk for nothing or sign him to a $170 million contract or whatever it will be. I think the team was more fun to watch in the past season than any other season since Amare left, except maybe 2013-14. But that season, even though it was fun to watch, you knew it was not a team going anywhere long term so you always had that in the back of your mind.

I think your point about Bledsoe getting the 170m combined with he will be 29 - may be a reason to trade

Chandler - well that one is tough. I don't see teams trading expirings - only similar type contracts.

I know some of you guys werent Archie fans but to me it was so much fun watching the Booker and Archie back court even when losing.

Hence I would be perfectly fine watching Booker and Jackson backcourt.

I don't get why they will do this. Wouldnt they prefer kcp go to the nets as opposed to the hawks?

None the less, I'm sure the nets are talking to pope anyway and discussing a contract with him. If they top the Lakers and hawks offer, he has no reason to not wait

that group by itself yeah, but there was plenty of cap-room then to sign a star (or two).

plus, it was unknown how good Len and Goodwin would become (and they are still young too).

and they still had the Wolves, Lakers, Pacers, and Wizards 1sts.

Kevin Pelton posted this comment on Twitter about Sauce - maybe just waiting for the Suns to make any moves. Granted, it could be announced and still make the moves. Or maybe Sauce just likes his old buds...

I have zero idea who Trey Rodriguez is other than his twitter bio so credibility could be closer to Jordan Schultz and Kennedy - or worse. Meaning, if this were Shelburne or Woj - it would be happening. This gguy, who knows - but he has the Suns/Cavs/Knicks talking Melo to Cleveland and Love to Phoenix

Read on Twitter

So, first, I really don't believe it because they stopped the pursuit of Millsap and except for the dollars - was the same three years as LOve. It just doesn't make sense unless Knight is traded because he has three years left.

But hypothetically - for me, these are the untouchables:
Booker, Bender, Chriss, Jackson, Ulis, the Suns first round pick in 2018 . Miami unprotected pick in 2021 and other Suns first rounders except maybe lottery protected in like 2020

Not untouchable but close
Warren and even probably Reed

Trade away if need be
Chandler, Knight, Bledsoe, Miami pick in 2018 IF not in the lottery, 2nd rounders, Derrick Jones, rights to Peters

So maybe something like this
Cleveland Melo
Knicks: Knight Bledsoe Warren and Miami 1st
Suns: Love and Shumpert

So again, now that I put together an actual trade that doesn't involve my untouchables, this seems more Jordan Schultz than a WojBomb

I'm all for wanting to do well, but with the West so stacked, and no major changes to our roster (other than experience), there's no real reason to think we won't be in the bottom 5-10 picks next year, right? I'm hopeful we can make a young run at some playoffs, but logic tells me not even close.

Well, we're building 'through the draft', for the most part, so yeah, that's what teams that build that way bank on. As you can see, I'm one of those, what was it Frank? 'arrogant' Steeler fans, and for the most part, that's how they built their team, and it works.

With Warren, Booker, Chriss, and ESPECIALLY Bender, I expect to see improvement. However, I do agree that by themselves, we can't get there...we need to trade for, as I've been calling it, a 'game changer' talent. One who is young, yet already developed and recognized as a rising star, such as Drummond, Porzingis, Richaun Holmes, Wiggins, Capela, Lavine, Saric, Parker...or already developed into a star, but is still in his 20s, such as DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Love (yeah, I know...), Whiteside, Valanciunas, etc....you get the point.

We have collected 'assets' for 5 years now; it's time to turn those assets into 'Stars' as was 'promised' by McD.

I'm with Frank on this, which I'm sure irritates him to no end, but the point is, McD has been given his time to build a 'contender'; the 'stars' are out there. If GS, Clev, Hou can trade for stars, why can't we? We have just as good, if not better, assets than most other teams. 5 Lotto pick players, 1 barely protected 1st, and 1 ZERO protected 1st, along with our picks. Where the heck is our new '18 draft 'rookies' going to fit?? PG?? Nope, we got Bledsoe/Ulis. SG?? Nope, we got Booker and promising Davon Reed. SF?? Nope-Warren/Jackson. PF?? Nope-Chris/Bender (Point-Forward). C?? Maybe...depends upon Len, Williams.

I'd argue we have star talent at 2 positions, budding star at the other 2. we can compete if we get the right talent. Right now...as is? No, but that's why we need to TRADE...and oh, looky there, we have a ton of assets which to use IN a trade. So what the heck is going on? As far as I'm concerned, Booker is the only 'untouchable'--the rest can be used as assets.

I saw that too. For what it's worth people on the knicks board who are familiar with this guy think he's full of ****.
