They seriously need to get rid of Melo. Big money is coming to Hardaway so I expect him to play a lot and contribute a lot. I don't want Melo around at all to take away from him.

Need that young high volume shooter without conscience to replace the older, high volume shooter without conscience.

If THJ balls tf out his contract is gonna be a steal. If Melo isn't here I could see him averaging 19 a game as second option to KP.

An 18-20 PPG 6'6 Shooting guard is worth 20 milly a year easily.

Ok. Not the biggest fan of the deal but screw it. Get rid of Melo and Lee and let these dudes grow together starting now.

He can easily do that. Without Melo of course.

They must deal Melo

Blue Ninja wrote:His defense is much improved to the point where it at least is adequate now, he has a pull up shot, looks to pass more on the drive and can finish better. I think most people will be surprised with this signing. If THJ wasn't here before, most people would have a different reaction.

On the contract, yes it is an overpay, but that's what is needed to sign these guys away from their team as a RFA. You have to make it so they won't match, which means overpaying by 2-4M a year. Anything like 4 year, 60M they would've probably matched. Also when you consider it with how the contract would've looked before the cap went up, it isn't that bad:

In the end this move isn't just about the team, it's about making KP happy. Here is our 1st franchise type caliber young player in forever. Take some pressure off of him. And this is done with a young player, who could end up being an asset. We have a young core, with trade-able veterans in Lee, Melo, Thomas and O'Quinn to create more cap space next year. I'm happy with this move.

This move has zero to do with making KP happy . This was a Steve Mills power move.

This move shows me KP is definitely going to be the focal point of the offense. Surrounding him with a dynamic scoring wing who can spread the floor and be a p&r handler at times.

I have big expectations and many three point attempts.

11.5 shots per game in 27 minutes is high volume? 15 shots per game per 36 is not high volume. He's far more efficient shooting the ball than you give him credit for.

I can't post this enough.

Lee and Melo must be gone before the season.

Frank, Hardaway, KP and Willy needs to start to grow together.

So we have to trade Lee now. Ain't no $18M/year SG coming off the bench.

we as fans played this wrong. we should have pretended to be hawks fans and sent e-mails to hawks management expressing our desire to want to see Timmy stay in Atlanta. and possible outrage and boycott of hawks games if they dont match.
