that defense will be hot garbage. kp cannot guard stretch 4's and we are not even sure if frank can guard nba point guards for long periods of time. his true position is probably shooting guard

you should be worrying about offense in that line-up.

True but this is still a bad deal. Not Mosgov, Deng, Noah, Crabbe, Turner, or Ryan level but it's still a bad deal.

It seems like players around the league respect and recognize THJs game. That's a good sign

I think most people will be surprised with this signing. If THJ wasn't here before, most people would have a different reaction.

On the contract, yes it is an overpay, but that's what is needed to sign these guys away from their team as a RFA. You have to make it so they won't match, which means overpaying by 2-4M a year. Anything like 4 year, 60M they would've probably matched. Also when you consider it with how the contract would've looked before the cap went up, it isn't that bad:

In the end this move isn't just about the team, it's about making KP happy. Here is our 1st franchise type caliber young player in forever. Take some pressure off of him. And this is done with a young player, who could end up being an asset. We have a young core, with trade-able veterans in Lee, Melo, Thomas and O'Quinn to create more cap space next year. I'm happy with this move.

i think we neglect how much KP wants to see a commitment to competition. i think a tank year would have sent him out the door.

i'm coming down from the ledge and starting to think long-term about this. it's a risk, but a somewhat calculated one. we're betting on potential. if tim plays the way he finished last year and better, it's becomes a bargain. plus, we really do need his skill set on offense.

maybe with a scorer like tim, the knicks feel okay trotting baker and frank out at PG. i wonder what veteran is out there who could come in and be helpful. tim's an expensive pup, but still part of the pup movement. it's not rudy gay here.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

Lee and Melo must be gone before the season.

Frank, Hardaway, KP and Willy needs to start to grow together.

This.

Who plays SF?

MFLFT?
Kuz?

Lolz.

Anyone but Melo. At this point just get him out. I like melo, but he just needs to go. This is KPs team now, I don't think Melo is in agreement with that, so just move him. Let our young guys grow. Frank Duex, KP, Wilfredo, and simply Tim. I'm just frustrated because I thought we'd sign a vet pg for about 2 yrs to help groom Frank. By then we'd be set (if Frank shows promise) to start building a consistent playoff team/up and coming contender . Mix of young guys, vets, and a superstar free agent along with KP.
C- Andre Drummond, Jared Sullinger
PF- Zach Randolph, Marquese Chriss
SF- Danilo Gallinari, Jerami Grant
SG- Devin Booker, Arron Afflalo, Randy Foye
PG- Rajon Rondo, Emmanuel Mudiay

i would counter with that just being one magical night, but he really did sustain a high level of play the rest of the season with increased PT.

i'm thinking lance is up. if healthy, he's kind of what that group needs at 3. plus defender. high effort. makes open shots. communicates.

nice find. tim as a plus defender and improved offensive player is probably worth that deal at his age. he always had all the tools. if he's putting them all together, we all may be eating some crow.
