11.5 shots per game in 27 minutes is high volume? 15 shots per game per 36 is not high volume. He's far more efficient shooting the ball than you give him credit for.
Trust me, if Melo is gone, he's going to be high volume. Who else is going to take all the shots?
KP and THJr. You'd hope. Unless you want to see LFT taking 15 shots a game.

melo won't be on this roster come training camp, even if it means buying him out.
they want nothing to do with him, the pecking order has clearly changed, and they're going to run instead of playing half court.
LOL Y U MAD THO?

mitchell robinson has blocked zion williamson 3 times as of 7/6/19.

willy averaged 16 points per 36 minutes and we barely ran plays for him. he was like our 4th or 5th option. and he is obviously good at moving without the ball and scoring in one-on-one situations. the only thing holding him back from putting up huge numbers is his defense. if he plays crap defense he won't get the minutes.

What is a real contract? James Johnson 60 million? Otto's 100 million? Jrue 100 million? Listen I get it's a lot of money but that's the direction the NBA is headed. Only when the knicks actually take a good shot will it be bashed.

Instead of properly building a team around our unhappy young player that we're counting on, we go and overpay on a mediocre role player. This team never learns, welcome to 30 win teams and 8-15 pick ranges in the draft for the foreseeable future. Won't be surprised if KP demands a trade soon, he already sees the dysfunction but we go and make it worse.
Remember the awful contract Ryan Anderson has that we refuse to take back in a Melo deal? Well we just got an even worse contract from a FA signing
Can't make this stuff up.

Re: OFFICIAL: Welcome BACK to New York THJr (4/71m)
big THJ fan.
he's improved on everything he was good at here as a rookie.
but we need to be careful with the defensive expectations.
Hawks have an excellent coaching staff that set expectations for Timmy and even sent him to the D league until he showed improvement.
Without that structure we might not reap those defensive benefits here right away.
anyway, we got the hawks best player.

THJr is the 3 to replace Melo.
Which is sort of interesting what might be coming back in a Melo trade.
Common sense guess is a PG
PG: Melo Trade PG/Frank/Baker
SG: CLee/Baker/Dotson
SF: THJr/LFT
PF: KP/Another piece from Melo deal?
C: WHG/Noah/KOQ

Timmy and Lee give us a solind 2 guard rotation and a solid backup SF rotation.
Why trade the vet unless we get something good(like a starting small forward(N'Dour please) or a vet pg willing to backup
Franky.

willy is not a starter. he's a half court player and that lineup is filled with guys that run.
let willy be the 6th man and just get his off the bench. especially since both willy and kristaps are centers.

On the contract, yes it is an overpay, but that's what is needed to sign these guys away from their team as a RFA. You have to make it so they won't match, which means overpaying by 2-4M a year. Anything like 4 year, 60M they would've probably matched. Also when you consider it with how the contract would've looked before the cap went up, it isn't that bad:
In the end this move isn't just about the team, it's about making KP happy. Here is our 1st franchise type caliber young player in forever. Take some pressure off of him. And this is done with a young player, who could end up being an asset. We have a young core, with trade-able veterans in Lee, Melo, Thomas and O'Quinn to create more cap space next year. I'm happy with this move.
i think we neglect how much KP wants to see a commitment to competition. i think a tank year would have sent him out the door.
i'm coming down from the ledge and starting to think long-term about this. it's a risk, but a somewhat calculated one. we're betting on potential. if tim plays the way he finished last year and better, it's becomes a bargain. plus, we really do need his skill set on offense.
maybe with a scorer like tim, the knicks feel okay trotting baker and frank out at PG. I wonder what veteran is out there who could come in and be helpful. tim's an expensive pup, but still part of the pup movement. it's not rudy gay here.
First, we all had to get over our initial impressions of Timmy from when he was first here and how much we all reviled him when he went to Atlanta. Of course, Grant was going to be infinitely better, right? And then when Rose showed he could play, he had a chance to make us better. But he didn't. Meanwhile, we all laughed at fleecing Atlanta, and I think a lot of fans ignored reports of Timmy's development.
So after all that, he still wanted to return to NYC with no hard feelings. That's not just a financial move, that's also character. During the past few months, we really made KP feel upset and worried he would leave us. Of course he wants to play to win. If Horny or any other coach told him to tank, he's probably demand a trade. So yeah, what you said is important. We need to start building a healthier, winning culture here. Frank will grow up in a healthy team and become more the guard we need, and WIlly will continue his development. So there will be lots of stuff to look forward to.
How are all those Philly guys feeling about their years of "the Process?" I wonder if Okafor went from first to worst just because he doesn't have the skills, or if the culture on the Sixers helped do this to him? They have some great parts, but so far, they haven't done any winning. We shall see.

Both are garbage, Anderson is 3 yrs at least, TH is 4...
I wouldn't want either, just put that out there to show how awful this is.

I'm thinking lance is up. if healthy, he's kind of what that group needs at 3. plus defender. high effort. makes open shots. communicates.
If he's healthy, he might do well. But he will still make it look ugly.
