Yeah the 'summer league is meaningless' thing gets overblown. It's another evaluation tool, along with HS games, college, workouts, the combine, etc. It doesn't project statistically to the NBA at all, but in terms of assessing strengths and weaknesses, there's value.

Folks love to say 'well so and so scored 20 PPG in summer league and look at him now!' Well duh, the analysis has to run deeper than looking at a stat sheet.

Even though for many SL is just for show. Im sure that it brings some confidence for some players or use it as a measuring tool and see what they can work on. Ill be tuned to see how Dunn looks. I suspose that would be more like a sweeter taste after the trade has been made.

Shooting is most important with Dunn. Everything else translated from SL last year to a NBA game just fine.

I look for players not to get injured and to be somewhat entertained.

Holy crap has summer league gotten popular. Are they really sold out for this game/session? Man, I remember being down several years ago and nobody went to the games. You could get tix for free and sit anywhere you wanted. There was easy access to players and coaches. Things have really changed.

Just ignore the stat line and look at skills and try to imagine if they translate against better players and the NBA game. For the most part, I havent been fooled one way or another by summer league. Jimmy Butler looked good, aggressive. Rose looked very good. The board was down on him because I believe his stat lines were mediocre. Tony Snell looked bad. I liked Kirk and BG SL. Board didn't like Kirk. The board had me getting too high on the draft of Dougie, and I didnt see him play SL. Dont remember the SL verdict on him. Portis looked ok. Basically for the love of God, stop looking at the stats so much.

Even around the boards it's become more popular and I think its even better that we have a lot new players to look at
