Why is it "daring" to throw a sh*t ton of money at a guy already under contract?

The closer this gets to happening the greedier I become. Don't take on a bad contract and worse player.

Anderson is on an awful deal but with this run and gun team we are putting together he can fit and only has 2 seasons left. Harteinstein and Qui are both young, high upside, stashable talent and we get a decent pick if this all falls apart for Houston.

Anderson's deal runs for another 3 years including this season. Melo's deal ends a year early and likely two years, as I think he will opt out to cash in on one big last contract. I'm not sure where we'd have minutes for Anderson if we were to trade for him, either, unless someone gets hurt.

Qi's upside is limited severely, IMO, by his frame. Hartenstein I'm interested in, but I'm still not touching that deal because of Anderson's horrible contract.

Aren't Harkless and Leonard sort of trash?

Harkless is pretty good. His TS% was .570 and has been increasing. He's a net positive on defense. Basketball reference says he's most similar to Tom McMillen, Frank Card and (lol) Phil Jackson.

Leonard had one good year 2 years ago and is still young but he probably isn't that good. We'd be taking on his contract to make this deal work. But he's much better than Plumlee who we just cut so a net positive.

Leonard and Harkless aren't exactly guys I'm jumping up and down to get to replace Melo. Especially Leonard with all the bigs the Knicks have, that he's not good and that he's overpaid and for a while.

Leonard is the guy we might have to take to get this done. He has 2 years on his contract so I believe he can be gone after one more season? He would take Plumlee's spot so it's still an upgrade over what we had. He had a very good year 2 years ago.

So this was Moreys plan after all. There's no space on the banana boat for Harden.

Monster and ShLong in the same sentence might need a pause.....
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

I think that Anderson ends up in Portland in the deal. He fits much better with them.

The only thing missing is a SF. We have a star player at SF in Anthony who wants or wanted to be here. Do we remember how long it took to get a top 15 player to play here. In fact not counting Stoudemire who was past his prime when he was here when was the last time we had a big time free agent come here willingly?

I think unless we qet another SF who is young and a fit with our current roster in a trade for Melo then let's ride with him. If they all fit, great we make the playoffs. If we don't do well we'll look to draft a SF. But boughing at the playoffs just because we can't beat golden state or the cavs is sideways thinking. Every other team in the league is in that same boat. I think this might be the year to go for it when everyone else is tanking. Never know what could happen.

This my friends is a delusional mad men  :banghead:

The playoffs are a reach but I don't see why we can't be a decent young NBA team that is treading up, knicks have building blocks it's about making the puzzle fit.
