All this leverage? Not even close. Denver played the Knicks (Dolan's) lust for Melo. What Houston and Morey would give up wouldn't be near as much.

Morey gonna take that big risk and trade Ryan Anderson for KP.

Anderson is on an awful deal but with this run and gun team we are putting together he can fit and only has 2 seasons left. Harteinstein and Qui are both young, high upside, stashable talent and we get a decent pick if this all falls apart for Houston.

Anderson's deal runs for another 3 years including this season. Melo's deal ends a year early and likely two years, as I think he will opt out to cash in on one big last contract. I'm not sure where we'd have minutes for Anderson if we were to trade for him, either, unless someone gets hurt.

Qi's upside is limited severely, IMO, by his frame. Hartenstein I'm interested in, but I'm still not touching that deal because of Anderson's horrible contract.

If we got Anderson our lineup would be:
Frank
Hardaway
Lee
Anderson
KP

Which isn't ok. At all. Aside from the fact that it eats into the minutes of guys who are supposedly members of our core, that's nasty.

Hell no. Willy > Anderson

doesn't fit in. I think we'll be playing fast bball, pushing it and taking quick shots when someone is open, we need all 5 that can hit from everywhere and run. Willy is just too slow.

Maybe give us Qi for Willy? Qi would be like having another Porzingis coming off the bench :o

Willy will fit perfectly in our transition pick and roll game that Hornacek will unleash. Willy can't shoot from everywhere but he's mobile enough to be effective in transition, and he's great in the pick and roll.

I think it's a safe conclusion to make that if we are actually going all in with young players then first round picks are off the table.

Willy showed flashes of a mid-range jumper last season, and he said in a video that he's going to working on his perimeter and 3-point game :o

I don't think the plan is to ignore a motion half court offense just to go full pace and space...... When teams stop the transition I could see them then falling back on a a system similar to the tryangle (but never calling it that because of the negative PR).

Its basically what a lot of the better teams do offensively.

I think that Anderson ends up in Portland in the deal. He fits much better with them.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking.

I posted this yesterday:
NY receives: Leonard (or Davis or Aminu), Harkless, Hartenstein (works without him if Houston wants to keep him), and one (two if no Hartenstein) of Houston's NGC's (Long, Taylor, etc)
Houston receives: Melo
Portland receives: Anderson + first round pick from Houston.

Something along those lines I can see happening.

I was thinking somewhat the same, but with all of the unguaranteed contracts going to Portland.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y76uflgx
Both Houston and NYK could throw in a second rounder or two to sweaten the pot fo r Portland as well.

According to the rumors leading up to the draft, Portland was desperate to trade the players because they don't wanna pay this much in the luxury tax. In both yours and mine proposal, Portland trades away players that are no more than rotational pieces for them, while adding Anderson who would likely be more valuable on the court to them than any of the players they trade away. And then there is the unguaranteed contracts, which simply saves them 5,2 million in salary this year. I believe that means a lot to Portland right now,

For Houston, this trade is huge win. They get rid of Anderson and gets Melo without trading away significant players right now.

For the Knicks, we only add young players. Harkless and Aminu are not great deals, but they are not terrible either. I'd pick Aminu over Lance every day for instance. It also pretty much fills out the bench with young players who should be eager to prove their worth. Including Hartenstein who may actually be the most valuable asset of any player in this trade. The trade also works without adding Vonleh or Napier, if Portland values them more highly than i think they do.

I like this trade a lot for all three teams and Melo, who goes to a very good team without them giving up too good a player in the short term.
