Lin is not our best player, Russell is.

I still think we should play Russell at Point Guard and bring Lin off the bench. He hasn't ever proven that hes a starting level PG in this league.

Would be a great 6th man.

Which is why I never even talked about the guy because I always assumed they'd match the offer no matter how dumb that will be in hindsight

Disagree. Russell will be our best player but Lin is better as of right now, especially on D. Plus Lin knows the offense and had some success within it over the last month and bring veteran leadership that no one else on the team has. Lin and Russell play the 1 and 2, share the ball heaps, both get their shots and everyone is happy.

He is also a solid offensive player that can possibly be more efficient in our system. And if we can get him on 17M per year, while other guys are getting 20 plus a year that is not as good as him, you take it. I don't see a team giving him what Porter got or giving him more than 20 on more than 1 year.

I wouldn't call someone who has a career PER of 11.7 (12.8 last season) a "solid offensive player" when the league average is 15. But yes, those defensive highlights are cravy.

I wouldn't put too much thought on his PER, he is in a bad team in Detroit and according to Piston fans he is the only one that actually tries on the team. Andre Drummond has a 21 PER and according to Piston fans he sucks and doesn't put alot of effort in alot of the times, PER doesn't give the full truth.

You have to also think about how much time he had to play point guard duties when Reggie Jackson was out, he was out of position alot of the times. And also we have better point guards here than RJ so KCP wouldn't have to handle the ball as much. I believe he is a solid offensive player, he can pull up and knock it down from mid range and 3 point with the ball in his hands, he can also come off screens, he is a good slasher/decent finisher. I don't see how he isn't a solid offensive player, notice that I didn't say good or great, but if he is anything less than solid then you're talking about a guy like Andre Roberson from the Thunders who totally sucks on offense and has a PER of like 9.

The one thing about his offense that concerns me is that he is poor at getting to the basket and the free throw line - and DLo has same problem He is fast in general but lacks quick first step
