Absolutely with you on this. There are many things associated with banging down low.
-You could get your defender in foul trouble
-Higher chance for Putback, tip in or Offensive rebound
-Tire your defender throughout the game and slow his legs put him to work, making him less effective on the offensive end
-Fore double & tripple teams allowing for pass out to open 3pt shot or drop off pass for easy layup.
-Keeps the defense guessing and multiple defenders trying not to allow you to pin down your defender making your team get spacing.
-Theres always a time that you can spot up for an open 3pt regardless, and your defender is probably slow to cover you since you've been busting his ass all game down-low or he heads straight under the basket out of repetition and muscle memory.
