correct. most deals are made verbally before the actual signing. unless you have a deandre jordan situation, where a guy agrees to sign with a team, but then gets convinced to break a verbal agreement with by his shady ass teammate, who then hauls ass to Houston a year or two later.

I think we can use some depth up front. we have a log jam at guard. we need a stretch big for sure.

Russell is the most talented player on this squad. You guys are seriously deluding yourselves with this (saying Russell should come off the bench for Lin in the event that we sign KCP at 2 guard). Don't let your bias for one player get in the way of objectivity.

I'm a big Lin guy, but talent and skill wise he's not better than Russell. More experienced, more proven defensively, yes he is. But that's about where the buck stops.

The Nets didn't trade Brook Lopez to have Russell play back up to Jeremy Lin. Russell is a 3rd year player, the training wheels aren't going to be used here. He's going to play and be featured heavily.

This. I wouldn't be surprised if Lin was traded to a playoff team before the deadline either.

If we get KCP do you guys think we cut Harris even though his contract was guaranteed. Seems like he's the guard with the least upside and does everything worse than KCP.

Ideal Lineup IMO:
Russell/Lin/Dinwiddie
KCP/Whitehead/Goodwin
LeVert/Kilpatrick/ Vet on 1 yr deal (Allen? Miles?)
Rondae/Booker/Nicholson
Allen/Mozgov/Hamilton

I think Kilpatrick gets dealt, either for a future pick or for a short term veteran forward salary dump. Faried would kind of make some sense if they also took Hamilton.

I thought something like Kilpatrick to Minny for Aldrich and the OKC 1st this year would work for both sides.

It would also allow us to keep Harris and sign another good veteran to a 1yr deal depending on how much money we give to KCP.

No big surprise there, let's see if we can get KCP at a good rate

Well, good luck to them. That's a lot of scratch to be paying for a 2nd rd beat down at the hands of Lebron James.

To be fair, we did that in 2013 with Pierce/Garnett :banghead:

Yeah if they get KCP Illyasova on a 1 year deal could kind of fit. I think they'd want a better option at the 4 than Rondae/Booker if at all possible.

If Deron wasn't such a <> that could have been a decent series.

Which is why I think that they're dumb to match. Especially if Wall decides to just hold them hostage.

I like Booker, but we need a stretch 4 unless the team is comfortable running Acy full time. i dunno.

Miles, if no KCP, isn't bad. If we get KCP then I hope not.

It's better to have KCP play SF, like the 6'5 Courtney Lee and the 6'4 Tony Allen. He should be able to do it.

Lin/DRuss/KCP/RHJ/Moz
DVD/iHead/LVJ/Booker/Allen
Goodwin/SKil/JHar/Acy/JHam

Not bad, and that's 15 guys already? If they really want KCP to start at the 2 and/or better D, we could just switch DRuss and LVJ, there's still enough size in the second unit.

The perimeter rotation would be pretty good. The question marks would be with the bigs, can Moz, RHJ and Book hit threes? Can Moz stay healthy, motivated and PnR effectively? Can Allen contribute? If most of these are positive, this team would be pretty good on both ends and playoffs is doable.

Imo wall is gone after two years. That core is locked in and won't improve, and wall knows it.

Acy is gonna be on the end of the bench collecting DNPs this year. He's this team's veal. I agree about the 4 spot, we need someone with mobility and a jump shot. RHJ's best role is coming off the bench as an energy guy and matchup defender. Booker is a good extra big. A quality 4 would be a nice addition. Green or Ilyasova could work depending on price.

I'll bite the bullet and say let go after Mirotic after J. Green. I don't see Chicago matching a deal with Markkanen there.

Russell has potential but Lin is the best player on this team and he won't come of the bench as long as he is a net.

If he doesn't perform and there's a better player to start over him, they will do that - but he's going to get every chance as the starter first.

Depends how well he plays and how successful the team is I guess? It'd be like VC would be like a Raptor playing on the Nets but Kidd wouldn't be like a Mav/Sun on the Nets.

There's no way that's the line up Atkinson goes with to start the season, and I'd be shocked if we ended with it either. The upcoming season will be quite similar to last season where we had lots of new faces trying to learn the offense and execute it properly. Given that last season was all about the youth movement and we still saw Kenny starting Randy Foye, I'd be high surprised if Lin and Mozgov are not penciled in as starters in Kenny's mind.

Also I don't see Acy in the depth chart. I'd have him play over Nicholson for sure and at times Hamilton if we're going small ball.
