if it was easy than melo to houston would be done because they could easily move ryan anderson to a 3rd team. it's not so easy.

Teams seem to be demanding more than one first to take on that deal. Anything longer than 2 years is tough to stomach for most teams.

plus i'm sure we are asking for something, because what do we get out of helping them ? that's 3 picks it would cost them.

i wouldn't say its mad overrated. But for a team building around youth like us that wont be able to attract big time all-star talent type FA's yes its a bit overrated.

Which is why if we have to take back a slightly longer contract than Melo to get this done so we can get a few assets back I would be down. We aren't going to be in the FA pool at least for a 2-3 years anyway until our young guns are ready to compete.

The problem with rebuilding teams is that only a few understand how valuable their cap space is as a dumping ground for other teams. BK has realized this and has earned 3 first round picks and DeAngelo as a result. Philly realized it and it is the reason they have Markelle Fultz. When you are bad, you should keep enough open that you can take others' assets and, when you are good, you should go after players. When you are bad, and spending big on players that won't move the needle, that is the worst of both worlds.

but thats what im saying. If we just got back expiring for Melo we probably wouldn't get much else in terms of value...maybe one heavily protected? If Anderson contract is involved whether its a 3rd team (because we don't want it). HOU will have to pony up more future assets. So in turn its a similar situation you are suggesting we are taking on a bad contract whether its from a 3rd team to get more assets.

We are just doing it all at once.

and in the Melo trade discussions as well. Seems like he is advising from a distance which isn't a bad thing.

I said to a 3rd team say like Portland and take back a couple contracts from them (harkless/Leonard)

Maybe signing Griffen helps facilitate a Melo trade to Cleveland.

I hope Griffin values Frank. I hope he gets a chance to develop and succeed here.

i will take on leonard to get Harkless and a 2020 1st pick from HOU (maybe even throw in the rights to hartiestein or the chinese guy they just signed).

My point 2 years 20 million is worth taken on to get future assets.

What does the Melo cap space get you next offseason? We are probably going to be terrible. Give me assets I can live with Leonard its a bad contract but no immovable in the future because 10 million in a year will be a nice expiring for some.

He wants to tank. He knows that team has a ceiling they're very close to reaching and it's not enough.
By next year he won't get away with his cute little non-needle pushing moves. He wants the pressure off. He's already shown he's very capable of moving star players for youth. Deep down inside I think he wants to go young and I doubt he really wanted to resign Kyle.
