Slightly more than what the Hawks were willing to pay. if they match, so be it. Timmy wouldn't have been my choice for using any of the Knicks cap space though.

melo, amare, noah?

You can throw in a surplus of cash for him being restricted, still young and on the upswing last year.
Am I supportive of it? Not really no. But I'm explaining it. The reasoning is not crazy but it WILL SEEM crazy if he goes back to being sucky.
All about the future and how good he will be.

KCP is a nice defender but kinda overrated. Think Hardaway is a better fit

You're always very rational, KG. I appreciate that.

it's rational to think thj can replace melo in some way ?

He does fit well with our young core, and can still get better. If he wasnt on this team (namely his second year) people would be thinking differently about this methinks.
I remember last summer when half this board was on Allan Crabbe's nuts.

How dare you play word games with me (old married couple outrage). He won't replace him but they're worried about scoring with Melo being shown the door. For $18M, so about 70% or whatever of what Melo makes, THJ can carry about 50-70% of the scoring burden Melo carried.
Tanking for KP, Willy sounds good and could work, but it could also start to seriously regress their ability to play basketball with some effectiveness on the court.

timmy has never played the number one option role. that was milsap. it's a lot harder than it looks. in general, not just you, i don't think people really appreciate the talent that melo has for scoring. my hope is that kp has developed enough that he can do what you are expecting timmy to do and carry that burden. because timmy is not really built for it. it would be like making jr smith your number one option.
