Statues...

Post#1 » by HEATVols865 » Fri Jul 7, 2017 4:38 pm

I think it's a given that Wade will eventually have a statue outside of the AAA, but I think the same should be done for Zo.
He was our first superstar, the first player in Heat history to be in discussions for MVP, the guy who raised the Heat from the cellar to the status of top franchise.
We can't let his disease and him not being able to deliver more to the franchise because of it, blind us from the fact that before DWade, there was Zo and Zo, his grit, his passion, his culture is still pumping in the veins of the Miami Heat franchise.
Without Zo, there would be no DWade because we would not have been on the map.

Thoughts?

Multiple all-stars only and hall of famers. Ud, Mike Miller and other key role players get a picture in the locker room or the entrance wall.

Zo Shaq wade Hardaway get statues
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

Riley should get one first. We were the old school Clippers before he arrived.

Not a big fan of statues to be honest. It seems to have taken the place of retired jerseys in fans eyes ever since Jordan got his statue.

IMO only Riley should have a statue. No player. Players get honored with their number being retired.

Anyone ever been to Lambeau field? They have a couple statues of Lambeau and Lombardi. That is nice. That is how it should be. The two giants of the franchise. Not every all star that ever put on a green bay jersey.

For the Heat it should be Riley and maybe Arison (though I don't think he'd want one of himself). These should only be bestowed after they pass too....

For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Statues are cool. Would rather have a bunch of statues than jerseys retired.

Zo, Wade, Riley, UD and maybe Beasley.

No mention of LeBron? Really?

I mean, Wade obviously. And I agree about Riley. But after those 2... it's definitely LeBron. Way above Shaq. LeBron >>>>>> Shaq to this franchise. More years, more rings, more accolades and accomplishments... etc. LeBron with the Big3 made our team a show stopping must watch event every night. Prob will never be that way again...

No way LBJ gets a statue. I'd say Wade/Riley are set in stone. And maybe Zo. UD not sure.

Yes, we need statues.

1. Pat Riley

2. Alonzo Mourning (he finally did help us win a ring in 2006)

3. Wade

4. Lebron (even though i hate him, he deserves one, as he has 2 Finals MVPs in a heat uni)

5. Shaq? I say no.... but...... maybe.

that's it. Shaq doesn't get one cause he was only a hired mercenary and won only 1 title, and Wade was the one with the historic performance and Finals MVP.

But I guess if you want to create more "shine" for the Heat franchise, like the Lakers do by adding a Wayne Gretzky statue to the Staples Center..... then I guess you could give Shaq one.
