Jayson Tatum is fun.

Period. I'm glad the Celtics took him for that reason alone (although it helps that he looks very talented too).

Tatum is looking scary. Making difficult shots look easy

would it be a stretch to say that Tatum is a bit like a young Carmelo Anthony. They share similar strengths and weaknesses on the floor. Both can score from anywhere and are so hard to defend, both not the greatest defenders though but it doesn't really matter when they score that much.

I mmean it's tough on a kid when you compare them to a future hall of famer like Melo.

But they do look very similar.

yeah i know its rough to start off with but he's honestly polished offensively. Seen a lot more out of him than Jackson (though Jackson probably will be the better 2 way player long term).

I have no idea where we found this Jamil Wilson guy, but he's a beast right now.

I know it's "just summer league," but IMO, with the way Brice Johnson has been playing, he needs to get some minutes in the real games.

why?

they drafted BPA at 4.

They did try to trade for another pick but failed.

And Suns have a clutter of PGs... if anyone will regret it, its KNICKS...

he's had an 18/9 game and 15/10 game, with good defense and passing.

His hustle and defense will translate... all the other players lighting up shots and scoring 20-25 points are more likely NOT to repeat those against NBA level defense.

People here judging high offensive performances as clear indicators will likely be disappointed come regular season when green light to ball dominate and shoot will be restricted to the stars.

What I look for in these games are the little things... the smart movement, passes, hustle, defensive awareness and overall energy/effort.... these will translate to the NBA immediately.

It's summer league, let's see a season before we judge mistakes.

Dennis Smith Jr is what happens when GMs fall for narratives over actual talent. Every negative thing I heard about this kid questioned his "attitude" or his team losing. Like none of that matters in the NCAA when the talent is there. DSJ had top 3 pick potential you'd think any team outside of the top 3 would take a chance on him. Knicks and Bulls especially screwed up passing on him.

My 2nd fav player in the draft. Danny wanted to get him too, couldn't find a pick. I knew people were wrong on him. Sick athelte with pretty decent skills. Watch him be better than guys in the top 5.
Good assessment:

Oh God, you guys are gonna say this about every PG that has a decent summer league game  stop

I think they made the right choice with Ball (for them)

Every shot by Brown outside of a dunk is a shot I'd rather see Tatum take.

No, they didn't. Did you see DSJ tonight? He dominated again. These two are so dramatically different from a ceiling perspective it's like comparing PJ Brown to Kevin Garnett.
