Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
Don't like Mike James on THIS squad, he pounds the ball too much and doesn't work to get the young guys better shots. He should also be the leader as a PG and a 27 year old pro; too much selfish play and turnovers out there and it starts with him.
There was a possession he brought the ball past HC, dribbled to the left wing, dribbled for about 5 seconds and then fired a contested 3. He actually made the shot, but yea no thanks; move the ball / be a point guard.
Quese looked awful, I hate to say it, but things like energy and focus are hard to teach. I wouldn't care if he was missing shots but playing his ass off and hustling. He's playing like he's too good for SL.
Love JJ; he's going to look better with Ulis and Booker, gets little taps around the rim, he's never going to be a big star (IMO) but he's going to be a really good player for a long time.
I was happy with Bender today.

We have a lot of young players. They are not ALL going to develop. If Chriss is going to slough off, sit his butt and let TJ and Bender play.

JJ doesn't have a J yet, lol, what people should have expected. He can't shoot, but he has had
15 and 10
18 and 8
Can't wait until the season starts and he is playing off of Booker instead of sorry ass Chriss. Those other guys won't have the luxury of going one on one vs scrubs.....but Josh will have the luxury and skill to play of off NBA players, then we will see.....can't wait until the SL song changes when the real basketball begins.
I don't know what's up with Chriss. Didn't he say he only took 4 days off and wanted to be in basketball shape early?
Thats misquoted. He actually took 4 days off his fattening diet. Wants to have the shape of a basketball.

The game was laughable but this is funny.

I think JJ will be a good role player this year with flashes of being much better. I think 12/5/2 isn't outside the realm of possibilities for him.
Not expecting many wins this season, especially seeing how little growth our 2nd year guys have shown.
Yeah, both Chriss and Bender, and everyone for that matter, but especially them, will look better playing with better players. I think playing with the starters benefitted Chriss more this season and it would have probably helped with Bender's development if it was him in that spot as well.
However, if they do want Jackson to start, Warren definitely deserves to start over Chriss. Not sure if we will start Chandler or go with Chriss/Bender at the 5 in this scenario.

For those of you in Vegas, what are the odds of Smith Jr to win ROY? Might be worth droppin a dime on that. I suppose I can look it up, and as a matter of fact I almost forgot I have an online account...maybe I will.

Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
Love Cuban... during his interview he made the best call.. they're rebuilding because Mavs is out West, if they're out East totally different direction. Loved it. Just truth and honesty.
Sarver needs to pay attention to that, Cuban's the guy that wants to reload as much as possible but he knows the next 2 years are pretty much Warriors era, so might as well get younger and prepare for 2020.
Mavs got some pieces though already, Barnes, Noel etc. You have Dirk as mentor and future FO member and Dennis Smith JR is a steal... should have traded for another top 10 pick... and LOL at Knicks skipping on him, so badly run.

Jackson is older than Chriss and Bender by about 6 months, didn't know that before.

Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
Bender is over thinking out there.
He is not playing on instincts... he is playing as per instructed which is not going help him get confidence.
He needs to play loosely... and when they say aggressive.. it doesnt mean take more shots but be assertive and play with energy.

Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
Love Jackson.
Suns should develop him as a mini-Pippen (Pippen had 7'3 wingspan).... Iggy pretty much lol. Love that he contributes throughout the WHOLE court.. not just one end. When that top and corner of the arc 3pt starts falling for him... he will be one of the better all-rounder players under 23.

Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
The crap thing I hate about Summer League is... again showed in this game. Players are playing primarily with 110% effort rather than tactics because more than half the players are trying to audition for spots.
Plenty of players trying to do too much, more than their abilities and role.... if you're passive, you pretty wont get the ball.

Plus Dallas has Seth Curry who was a great shooter last year and Yogi played very well too. With Carlisle at coach, I don't think they will be that bad.

I checked today, only 11 players (I think) who were drafted are younger than Bender, and 3 of those are within a week of his age. So he's still one of the youngest guys in the league, as is Chriss. Like Miyagi's sig says, I don't think we should judge them too much too quickly.

Why would it get McD fired for drafting someone who we already have a better player that position? Bledsoe is better then both them and has good chemistry with the rest of the team. To top that off Jackson fills a need of a being a defensive stopper at the wing on top of being a person that will likely be one of the top two players in the draft based on many experts opinions.
Just say no to idiots!!

Re: Summer League: Vegas baby, vegas.
Well that's why DSJ was the one player I really wanted.
The Chriss hate is being overblown. Chriss's poor play is a combination of several things that will be cleaned up by the time the season starts. He's mid bulk, if he still has this much weight at the season's beginning then we can be worried. I think the weight is killing his shot too cause most of his misses seem to be too strong.
Our guard play also sucks which is killing Chriss's game because his handle and post moves aren't good enough yet to beat his man 1v1.
It looks like Chriss is playing a bit more loose and reckless because it's inferior competition which leads to the ugly stat-lines we've seen. Honestly Chriss knows he can play in the league already and be a solid player, why not take some risks and put up crappy stat-lines now when he knows he can ball out during the regular season still. I mean we all know summer league doesn't really matter in the least bit, you don't think Chriss is thinking this same thing?
Our whole team overall is being absolutely hammered by a lack of shooting. They should all look better playing in the regular season because right now the spacing is trash.
