Mad Ants Change Colors

Post#1 » by boomershadow » Mon Jul 10, 2017 1:41 pm

I saw this color change was being made. Not a drastic change, perhaps, but it's nice to see the Fort Wayne Mad Ants will now be rocking the Blue and Gold. It looks like just a color change for the old logo and not a total redesign. Supposedly, there will be a new uniform for the Ants this season as well. The change definitely seems to make the two teams a little more obviously tied to the Pacers at a glance. Though I suspect that unlike a few other NBA/G-League pairings that seem to make sense together, like the Bucks and the Herd or the 76ers and 87ers, there might still remain a few questions such as: what is a Pacer anyways and what do they have to do with Ants?

"We are very excited to unveil our new look," said Mad Ants President Tim Bawmann. "While we felt it was important to become more visually aligned with the Pacers, we knew it was equally important to maintain our strong connection to the Fort Wayne community."

IDK, I thought it was interesting.

The ant still needs a redesign badly but the colors I like much more and I think the connection with the Pacers is nice and more obvious now.

For those who have never been to a harness horse race, there are two gaits: Trotters and Pacers. The GlobeTrotters are the 'Trotters.

For those who didn't study Indiana history, Fort Wayne was named after Mad Anthony Wayne. Hence, Mad Ants.

Another bit of NBA history is that the arena in Fort Wayne was the home of the Zollner Pistons before they moved to Detroit.

Also lines up the colors with the Indiana state flag.
