Apparently, Cleveland has stepped up in their quest for Melo.

Would you trade Crabbe for Love?

Love Vs Ryan Anderson? Who do you take?

K-Love has 3 years left on his deal starting at 22.6. Anderson has 3 left on his deal starting at 19.6

Love for Melo for Crabbe works cap wise for all three teams according to ESPN's trade machine. But we gain 3 mil, Cavs gain 4 mil and Knicks lose 7.

Pffffttttt, you take Love in a heartbeat, are you kidding? Dude is seriously underrated nowadays after being forced into the third option. No one remembers when he dropped 35 on us in the first qtr last year??

Crabbe for Love is an instant YESSSSSSSS without hesitating.

No way would Cleveland do that though. They could get a lot better value elsewhere.

Crabbe wouldn't be going to CLE, he would be going to NYK, and NO WAY do they want him after giving THJ that stupid contract.

I think we could facilitate something around Al-Fariq Aminu, Noah Vonleh, Myers Leonard and a 18' R1. NYK could run:

PG - Frank Ntilikina
SG - Tim Hardaway Jr
SF - Al-Fariq Aminu
PF - Noah Vonleh
C - Kristaps Porzingis

That lineup actually looks like a nice mix of O and D. And everyone is super young.

It still leaves us with both Crabbe and ET, and one needs to get moved. But the asking price for moving bad contracts is so high that Paul Allen may just say 'screw it' and break the bank for a few seasons.

PG - Damian Lillard / Shabazz Napier
SG - CJ McCollum / Allen Crabbe
SF - Mo Harkless / Evan Turner / Jake Layman
PF - Kevin Love / Zach Collins / Ed Davis
C - Jusuf Nurkic / Caleb Swaingain / Ed Davis

Ezeli has been waived....more then a week ago

even if the trade would somehow be legal, it would raise Portland's luxury tax from something like 44M to 85M; Anderson would cost Portland around 60M this season in salary and tax... :roll:

I'm sooooo tired of hearing about Melo. Just trade him already. NY, CLE and HOU need to figure it out for themselves. We are not going to help HOU by taking on Anderson... we aren't going to help NY by giving them Harkless... and CLE knows they would be stupid to give up Love for him.

I do have to agree to an extent with GEE as pretty much every offer I have seen has been ridiculous. I guess we are expected to do both teams a favor and take it in the shorts.

that reddit thread doesn't have much info, and the thread on the Knicks board is an abomination....

so, do I have the rumors about right that Portland would be trading Harkless and Meyers for Anderson if a 4th team could be found to take Meyers?...and that if any picks are involved it would be to the 4th team for taking Meyers?

I don't read too much into the reddit one, just seems like a recirculation of rumors we've already heard.

As far as this trade idea yes its simply awful perhaps even enough to put Olshey's job in jeopardy when all is said and done?

Its better I guess, but it still doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Ariza is pretty good, better than Aminu perhaps, but also has many more miles. He could be expensive, looking for his next big contract, so I wouldn't really factor in retaining him in my analysis.

Crabbe/Anderson is pretty close IMO, but again Crabbe is way younger and the Blazers are no where close, so don't think I do straight up - but it could be the start of a deal. From our angle, if we could add in Leonard to another team, that gets us within spitting distance of the tax, but the trick is getting someone to take on Leonard. Probably costs us a pick just to dump Leonard on a 4th team.
