That whole Lin thing is exactly why NY media sucks. He was talking about the set up of tge contract and still said he wants him back.

But no, just post that he said it's ridiculous. Without context on what he's saying.

My comprehension of that entire convo was Melo calling that poison pill ridiculous. That's why the Knicks didn't match. The tax implications from that poison pill was ridiculous and we were already in the lux tax.

He called the poison pill ridiculous. Not the contract. Houston fuqed us over.

This was Melo's actual quote. Even if Melo somehow believed that the contract was ridiculous due to luxury tax implications, the comment comes off as tasteless. He's pretty much saying, it's not my choice if the Knicks want to do something stupid like matching that contract. He should've never made those comments because it doesn't bode well.

They cut out the rest of his statement.

The rest of his comment sounds like damage control to me.

The trade, D'Antoni and Lin(which is the biggest reach I have ever seen).

Except he was willing to go to Brooklyn, not because he wanted to play here. Because he wanted his max and a chance to form a big 3. He wanted out of Denver. Not because he wanted to be a Knick. That's a lie. He also was willing to leave in FA after all it took to get him here. Then he took the max and a NTC plus kicker to stay.

Never once has he left this team in a better position to build around him. He didn't attract FA. He didn't want to adapt his game. He didn't want certain coaches or players and a GM.

The FO has been a mess. He contributed to that mess with Dolan forcing the trade because he said he would go to Brooklyn.

He is a very good player. He has played the good soldier in the press. He has left it all out on the court. He has not done anything to warrant such blind devotion. He's made selfish, me first decisions that have hurt the team. These are facts. It's not all on him...but....some of it is.

It's time to move on either way and fans should be allowed to want that without hearing about it. Melo is not the victim by any stretch in this story.

The team prior to melo wasn't anything short of meh lol they were nothing but an 8th seed team they weren't some top team in the east yea we gave up assets but **** that's what you do when trading for a superstar maybe we gave up too much but those guys didn't do **** in Denver. Because all he wants is his money first. Then he wants a buyout.

Many assumed he was referring to Melo, Melo then said he doubts Amare was talking about him, and we all believed Melo. Since Amare didn't name names we're left assuming but usually where there's smoke there's fire.

It absolutely wasn't just Melo, but he's the example. He's the face of the team and a leader in the players association. Jeremy Lin getting overpaid should not have had teammates angry at him. That J.R Smith comment is unsettling because it implies zero allegiance to Lin from a lot of Knicks teammates besides the guys that were getting paid the big bucks already.

I think this article explains the dynamic and the problems that every coach/visionary has had with the Knicks. They can't coach or run a team the way they want.
