Totally different circumstances:
A) All of GS players can play off the ball. Simmons and Embiid are not going to be running around screens and cutting on offense. Fultz has the potential to do this, but we would be underutilizing him big time. Surrounding LeBron with cutters and shooters is the way his offense can be successful.
B) Only Klay and Steph had > 20% usage rates. Adding KD worked because GS's 3rd and 4th stars in Draymond + Iggy each had sub-20% usage rates.
C) KD joined the Warriors at age 27, with Curry (28), Klay (27), and Draymond (26) all at the beginning of the primes. Conversely, LeBron will be 33 next summer, with Embiid (24), Fultz (20), and Simmons (22) not nearly ready to take on a team like the Warriors. Adding Durant was a win-now move for GS...adding LeBron would also be a win-now move, but we're not there yet.
So if Bron actually wanted to come to Philly you would say no?
I'm not saying he would want to come to Philly, but thats one guy you don't say no to.....but I would love to hear you explain to Lebron his usage rate is too high so we don't want you. The one year contracts are a clue that we are trying to be flexible in the future. The Lakers would be interesting for him, I just don't see why he would do that when they probably won't even make the playoffs.
I wouldn't say "no" outright, but if for some reason LeBron really wanted to come here, then I would let him know our offense is running through our big 3. Our FO would have to make it clear that if he comes, it won't be his team, which LeBron is unlikely to accept. I'm not shoving aside 3 potential franchise players and stunting their development so LeBron can try and win another ring or two before he retires.
Edit: On another note, the perfect place for LeBron to end his career (besides Cleveland) is San Antonio. LeBron + Kawhi + Pop might be the antidote to beating the current GS dynasty.
I feel silly even considering the possibility of Lebron coming here, but if he DID come here, I think that we just make room for him, and let him be Lebron, unless, and until, Simmons or Embiid show themselves to be better than him.
Lebron is about the most flexible superstar in the league in terms of his ability to adapt to other teams, and their strengths and abilities.
