Very happy for the kid. He's no Ramon Sessions (100x better), and that's a guarantee. Where the guarantees start to end are if he'll ever return to his ROY form. However, I can certainly see him filling the Lin role, and is a better fit than Lin defensively when paired with Kemba.

We have great guard development coaches. Stephen Silas helped both Curry and Lin develop and Steve Hetzel knows what he's doing as well. They have to be PUMPED to have not one but two new talented guards to coach in MCW and Monk. Both of them are in good hands.

Monk in particular probably doesn't realize how fortunate he was to get picked by us.

You guys are crazy if you think MCW is going to have a positive impact for us. He is as bad as it gets.

I think that it could go either way.

I do think that the Hornets have a good culture in place and an offense that should suit MCW if he plays within his role. I regard it as a strong plus that Kemba recruited him and vouched for him to management.

I could fail or blow up though. I still worry about spacing being an issue with him on the court.

I was less positive than many on the signing of MCW, but the statements Kemba made really have me hoping for the best.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I'll agree with you on the offensive side of the ball. His game is slacking greatly. Where he makes up for it is on the defensive end. And, our bench is going to have guys like Frank, Cody, and Lamb. So, MCW won't be asked to shoot a lot, which is good for all. Are there better backups in the league? Yes. Are there many that would accept less than 5 mil? No. If he doesn't work out, then Weber or whoever is the #3 will just have to step up.

To be clear MCW has a career +3.4 on/off, his best stretch being w/Playoff Milwaukee.

that mostly has to do with every team he's played on having an absolutely miserable bench. Far worse than anything we've had to put up with in the Clifford era.

Sure except he sometimes came off the bench for Chicago and part of 2015-16 for MIL.....which makes his career on/off even more impressive.

For example, Chicago was horrific without Butler (-11) but mildly positive when MCW played.

Interesting... not really sure what to make of that given Chicago's wildly inconsistent nature last year

Some of you are giving this kid as much or more hate than when we traded for Plumlees contract which was a atrocity. Its 1 year 2.7 million. The bitching is ridiculous.

He's a difficult fit but MCW's narrative is nuanced. Milwaukee fans turned on MCW - unfairly I might add - except young players enjoy sacred cow status so instead of examining Jabari Parker, Monroe + MCW were scapegoated.

....yet once again the Bucks were better without Jabari on the court. It's not a coincidence that Milwaukee rolled in 2014-15 after the MCW trade, struggled in 2015-16, and then surged again after Jabari was hurt this past season. Meanwhile Monroe was excellent and Chicago's bench thrived with MCW.

Dang, I disagree. I hope he makes all of us Horncat disciples happy. I mean, it can't get much worse than Sessions or Roberts, let's be realistic...

Yeah jabari is probably the most overrated player in the NBA. The bucks are lucky he got hurt before they handed him $100m

He's not gonna be the main guy here, not even the main guy off the bench. All we need from him is to provide some defense and handle the rock for a while. He's on one year contract, 2.7 M, that's worth a try.

Wait until it become a recurring theme that he come into the game to replace Kemba and then 5 point leads turn into 10 point deficits within 5 minutes.
