You really don't have to worry about this at all.

It will be nice seeing Melo on a good team. However, giving Melo to Houston is so far from gift wrapping them a title lol. Golden State, Cleveland, San Antonio, and maybe even OKC are at least equal to or better than the Rockets with Melo.

well, it gives them a big leg up. The Knicks
management hopefully understands it. I'm sure the Rockets are saying 'oh, hmm. Ok, we'll take him off your hands...' bogus!
I dunno.

"knicks not there yet" is a banner statement for this franchise - it really encompasses the state of this team.

Something major is holding up this trade whether it's Ryan Anderson, picks, who knows?!?!... but whatever it is, this deal has the perfect make-up to fall apart! It should have been done by now for crying out loud. Maybe now that Houston has won Melo over, they might be banking on us buying him out if it all falls thru in which he'll obviously choose Houston.

We aren't buying him out. If something is holding up the trade my guess is that it's D'Antoni

I have feeling that C. Paul, Melo and company was the plan all along for Houston, especially if they missed out on P. George or J. Butler.

Remember when Golden State was resigning all their players, Houston said, that's alright, we have a plan! The deal for C. Paul was when the sold him on a push to get his boy Melo if he signed with them! There's no other way they were gonn get C. Paul there when D'Antoni isn't a fan of Melo.....but D'Antoni had no choice if they wanted to compete with Golden State this upcoming season. C. Paul probably guaranteed to be the buffer between D'Antoni and Melo if necessary!!!!! Possible??????

There's always gonna be that what if melo waited question, I think that every time I talk melo unfortunately, but he'll always be my favorite player.

Melo needs a high iq pg ala billups Kidd, that's when he was at his best, Melo calls for the ball every possession, it doesn't mean he has to get it. Floor general pgs get when to feed him vs team ball but knicks couldn't find a long term match.

If knicks hold on to Gallo and the crew wait to fa, try to get cp3 and who knows where this franchise would be right now.

Yea - wonder if the same package that got us Melo would have been able to snag Paul. Then you have your big 3 when Melo signs outright.

I think he should stay. houston is lowballin us af, pretty sure about that. If melo wants to go badly I wouldn't accept less than 2 unprotected firsts in addition to the horrible anderson contract or a first + harkless if it's the three team deal with POR.
if the offer is worse, why the hell should we trade him?
how about getting harkless to pair with melo?

Lee, Kuz, O'Quinn for Harkless, Davis' expiring (maybe a second round pick has to be added from one side, dunno which one)

then we could offer Rondo the room exception of 4.3 million for 2 years.(he could make more, but maybe we could sell him that)

Rondo/Frank
Baker/THJ (using timmy as the sixth man here, more touches and better fit)
Harkless/Thomas
Melo/Willy
KP/Willy

boy that would be a playoff squad with a young nucleus, future cap space and all future first round picks going forward.. would be my dream scenario. main rotation with 3 veterans and 6 young guns.

BUT: I know this is most definitely not going to happen and melo will leave. makes me sad AF. but if we HAVE TO move him. it better be a really good deal.

Morley is probably trying to fleece the Knicks. A good negotiatior is always willing to walk away from the table, though. Despite fan sentiment, the Knicks don't have to deal him now. They can wait until the trade deadline or even next summer. Maybe his list opens up to include the Wovles or Thunder or something. They can't make a deal just to make a deal.

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if Anthony came back, and didn't get traded until the deadline, or just opted out of his contract next summer.

Management has already made it clear that they are not looking to "tank", so there's no reason why we shouldn't hold our ground in any trade negotiations - and not simply take back the junk that Cleveland or Houston are offering.
