Melo is going to the Cavs not the Rockets.

If we trade Melo for Shumpert and Frye, old Knick rejects.. we should just keep him.. not worth it

Let's keep him, he's been a mentor to KP and maybe things will work out with the team now giving Horny full autonomy. Playoffs a possibility.

Straight love for melo would work but why would cavs do that. Cavs trade would be harder to pull off.

He chewed out KP for praising the triangle which at the time was our system and influenced him to turn on the front office. We dont need that kind of mentor

Does anyone seriously believe a trade in which the only significant outgoing player for Houston is Ryan Anderson will return the Knicks anything of value? Mills needs to let this stew until Morey is willing to actually include a valued player such as Eric Gordon.

To be fair many of those posters came to the site because of Lin, remember the influx of Lin themed handles rolling through for those few weeks? Also Lin is better than Gallow, Lin has been a pretty productive even with the bouncing around from team to team he's done but more to his popularity is he is a one of a kind cultural icon.

Exactly, getting assets would be ideal but not fouling up the cap over the immediate future is more important, a healthy fiscal situation is needed to rebuild. He's cost the Knicks so many assets to get him and keep him happy the Knicks should not be concerned about giving him what he wants in leaving if it means the stink of the deal lasts for years on the cap or in costing more assets. It's better to let him opt out and reset that way. Other than a chirpy Jax the Knicks have treated Melo really well but the media has spun it like the Knicks are monsters, they are just incompetent, that's different.

Right. We need to hold firm and be willing to walk away from a deal if we don't get what we want. If nothing materializes, let Melo be come off the bench as 6th man on a rebuilding team. Trust me, he will then come to the table - hat in hand - begging for an immediate buyout.

Except no buyout, he doesn't get what he wants while still getting his money, screw him on that. If he wants out he pushes hard for Houston to get the deal done and cough up what it takes or he opts out after the season, the Knicks don't owe him anything more than that, they don't owe him both his contract money and freedom to go where he wants.

A buyout for just this coming season would be ok though, right?

They are pieces that may or may not become core players.

I feel what you're saying about everyone besides KP. He's the only guaranteed long-term core guy (barring injury). The others can flop, be dealt, etc. at any time. They still have a lot to prove.

So does KP.
He simply has the highest upside.

If the Knicks goal is to just get rid of him, the buyout is the best choice for the Knicks. Melo isn't going to net you anything of value here.

The well is already poisoned with Mills back in full command...might as well bring Melo back and embrace full MSG chaos like the mid 2000's.

That's a rumor.
I wouldn't put it past the media to make that crap up.

all of these articles say nothing except that the rockets want him and he wants the rockets. wake me up when someone wants ryan anderson. anything that takes this long probably doesn't have a great chance of happening.

Lin is better than LG.
Still, that's low expectations for an icon.

No screw that, he doesn't get to play with his boat buddies while getting paid tens of millions from the Knicks. Fit him with a tank commander helmet and tell him to suck it up, he made his choice when he signed the contract and wanted a NTC, he gets no coddling about it.
