Projected Rotation (as of now)
Depth Chart:
PG>>>RJ / Smith / Galloway
SG>>>Bradley / Kennard / Gbinije (will be released by saturday)
SF>>>Harris / Johnson / Bullock /
PF>>>Leuer / A. Tolliver / Ellenson
C>>>>Dre / Boban / Moreland
Actual Rotation Barring Injuries:
RJ / Smith
Bradley / Galloway
Harris / Johnson
Leuer / A. Tolliver
Dre / Boban / Moreland (Boban & Moreland's minutes will be dictated by opponent match-ups and/or Dre's free-throw shooting woes)
Basically, a 9 or 10 man rotation depending on match-ups. The main thing is to keep everyone fresh, so they can play the kind of uptempo basketball that Stan seems to be leaning towards. Anyone who can't keep up on both ends of the court can take a seat on the bench. Some other notes...
I have high hopes for both Kennard & Ellenson moving forward, but both are very poor defenders at this point in their young careers. Hell, Luke hasn't even had a NBA career to speak of yet(lol). I just think him and Henry will need to improve on the defensive end before SVG gives them any rotation minutes with the players that are head of them, barring an injury or two. As bad as Leuer was on defense last season, he's still better than the laterally challenged Ellenson.
Also, with Bradley and Galloway now on the roster to provide 3pt shooting, Stan can afford to let Kennard get actual playing time in the G-League instead of just sitting on his @$$ wearing a suit every game. Henry will probably be joining him there if the team brings in a defensive minded PF between now and the start of the season. One thing to keep in mind is the need for Leuer to up his trade value, so we can hopefully dump him and his contract before the deadline if he hasn't already been traded before the season starts.
As far as the SF spot goes, I was tempted to place Bullock right behind Harris, since he's easily a better offensive player than Stanley, but with SJ's size, he is better suited to defend that position. That being said, if Johnson continues to struggle mightily on offense, SVG has already proven that he'll play Bullock in his place. Luckily for Stanley, Reggie is going to miss the first five games of the season for a failed drug test, so he'll get first crack to earn rotation minutes regardless

I sure hope SJ plays his way into a starting role. Him at the 3 and Harris as the starting PF is more appealing to me.

Re: Projected Rotation (as of now)
Ellenson needs more time but I think Kennard is ready to go. Basically he's to good of a shooter and creator not to justify that backup SG spot.
I think we go with a 9 man rotation like this to start
Reggie/Ish/Bradley
Bradley/Kennard
Johnson/Harris
Harris/Leuer
Drummond/Boban/Leuer

Not watching this team if Tolliver gets minutes over Ellenson.

LOL I remember you and me would argue Tolliver vs Ersan all the time now we probably have to go at it again.

Most likely lol, i'd probably still take Ersan over Tolliver.. if he would STOP pump faking

We really need to give Ellenson minutes though, these guys aren't going to develop sitting on the bench.

Who cares? We are currently discussing a reggie Jackson salary dump trade, and if we don't have a healthy reggie we can kiss our playoff hopes goodbye. That will leave us with Ish, Galloway, and Moore to play point and the latter 2 are more sg's than pg's. even with a weakened conference I don't like our chances.
Players don't develop on the bench, you learn more and quicker via trial by fire, there's Ko replicating the real thing. And if SVG isn't going to play draftees who can't play both sides if the ball he shouldn't be trading for or signing guys that can't either which road block them.

I want to see our young guys play as much as the next guy because when you're not a contending team you need to find hope in other areas. What I saw in summer was scary bad though. If they get rid of Reggie and want to develop player, I'd like to see other changes than as well.
I just don't think playing with the playoffs as the goal and gifting minutes to a defensive nightmare go together. Hopefully Henry proves otherwise.

Consider how bad Reggie, Harris, Drummond, actually lets just say everyone outside of AB, SJ and KCP (if he remains but most likely won't) are in defence. How much better are they really than Ellenson? And then taking it further, that difference of how much better than are is really worth the cost of not developing Ellenson? I completely see where you're coming from, I would think I'm one of if not the greatest rebuilding/tanking advocate on here, and if we want to develop we would need to race all our old guys but are we really guaranteed a playoff position with this roster especially minus the chance of a healthy reggie? I don't believe we are, and if we aren't guaranteed a playoff spot I think it's time we rip this roster apart and start all of our young guys.
At lest when we miss playoffs Gores will fire SVG and we can see an actual rebuild, literally praying for Hinkie ATM

If we're not going to play Ellenson and Kennard we might as well trade them.

I think SVG needs to find a way to play both Kennard and Ellenson. This team isnt going anywhere unless we develop our young talent..

Not going to happen. Baring injury, I expect Galloway and Tolliver will have more minutes played than Kennard and Ellenson. Bullock may have more minutes played than Kennard too.

I think Kennard takes all the mins. SVG will play him if he can shoot it and playmake like he does. He's a rookie but he's more talented than those guys for sure and I think he's already polished enough to really contribute.

So you think we paid Galloway $7 mil a year for the next 3 years to be the 5th guard?

I think we paid him that to be our 3rd string PG for insurance reasons over Reggie which is why I hate it.
