Interesting - I missed the game but posters above are saying he's the next best thing. He didn't impress you even with the 37 pts?

When it comes to SL it's not how much you score it's about how you score. If he made multiple difficult shots(like Tatum has) I'd be impressed.

Mitchell looked godly out there today. This guy is going to be a lockdown defender.

Tatum was pretty weak today. Didn't do much. Zizic looked a lot better today than the other games I saw him.

Tatum looks a bit inconsistent. Sometimes he looks like he can score at will and other times he looks timid.

I think the Jazz could start Mitchell at the 2 right now and just slide Hood to the 3. Bring Ingles and Exum off the bench, unless they wantt to use Exum/Mitchell to push tempo.

I agree, I was saying the same on reddit. I think Mitchell is averaging like 4spg in the summer league. If this kid averages 30mpg I can see he get 15+ppg and 2spg. I'm not sure what the rest of his stats would be, but he is atheletic as hell, so I could see him get close to 5rpg @ 30mpg and around 5 apg too as he appears to be an excellent passer in the summerleague, just that the scrubs he gives wide open passes to are missing everything. 15/5/5 and 2 seems a little nuts, but man this kid looks damn special to me, and I know Snyder loves him. Snyder freaking smiled today watching Mitchell, and Snyder doesn't smile often lol.

I guess I can Wade because of the insane athletism and great wingspan despite being a little short for a swingman. Still I think that Wade a more efficient shooter at this stage of his career, and Mitchell is probably the better defender.

Pretty cool interview with D'Aaron Fox & Donovan Mitchell. I like these guys, they seem really down to earth and smart.

lol. this guy.

an indication of how good a guy is, is the quality of shots he gets. difficult shots aren't the way to go. Mitchell knows how to create good shots. give me that over Tatum's 18 foot fadeaways every day. Mitchell missed some - but his shooting stroke is pure - they'll go in. the important thing is he can create good shots and he's being aggressive. and that is to say nothing of his defense.

I also find it funny that you say the only thing that was impressive is his defense as if that is some small thing - defense is a big deal in today's league - more importantly, versatility on defense. probably the best defensive player in the draft just dropped 37 and this guy tries to diminish it because he didn't take make tough shots. good stuff. seriously

I was gonna come in here to say his quickness off the dribble (in the highlights vs. the Heat from today) reminds me of Lillard, but that works too.

Jordan Bell with the 5x5. This kid is real defensively. The Warriors got a steal.

Sounds like someone needs some toast to go with his jelly. Mitchell is a beast.
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

If I'm "jelly" then why did I say that Tatum impressed me? Some of you guys are prisoners of the moment. Look at the competition that's out there. The teams that are out there aren't better than last year's D-League(G-League?) teams . Terry Rozier played 3 games and averaged 21 ppg while making 62% of his shots in last year's SL. He barely averaged 5 points last season in the NBA. They're a lot more extreme examples.

bought him a year after they bought McCaw. seriously hoping the 'ers would draft both with our late first and early 2nd picks. guess if you snooze, you lose.

Who is Mitchells' current NBA comp? I haven't seen him play at all

Damian Lillard on offense, Avery Bradley on defense. 8-) OK, OK... I know this sounds ridiculous... but... think about it... style wise at least offensively he has a lot of Lillard in him IMO. His shot consistency needs to improve to get to that level of course and he needs to develop some variety of finishes off one leg around the rim, but yah... that's why I'm super hyped about him. He looks like he could be legit force on both ends.
