When it comes to SL it's not how much you score it's about how you score. If he made multiple difficult shots(like Tatum has) I'd be impressed.

lol. this guy.

an indication of how good a guy is, is the quality of shots he gets. difficult shots aren't the way to go. Mitchell knows how to create good shots. give me that over Tatum's 18 foot fadeaways every day. Mitchell missed some - but his shooting stroke is pure - they'll go in. the important thing is he can create good shots and he's being aggressive. and that is to say nothing of his defense.

I also find it funny that you say the only thing that was impressive is his defense as if that is some small thing - defense is a big deal in today's league - more importantly, versatility on defense. probably the best defensive player in the draft just dropped 37 and this guy tries to diminish it because he didn't take make tough shots. good stuff. seriously

That's not even true... Mitchell takes a ton of tough shots... more than my liking actually. He takes like... 4-5 tough step back jumpers off the dribble a game. He makes some of them and he misses some of them. If anything I would like him to tone it down a bit.

Sounds like someone needs some toast to go with his jelly. Mitchell is a beast.

If I'm "jelly" then why did I say that Tatum impressed me? Some of you guys are prisoners of the moment. Look at the competition that's out there. The teams that are out there aren't better than last year's D-League(G-League?) teams . Terry Rozier played 3 games and averaged 21 ppg while making 62% of his shots in last year's SL. He barely averaged 5 points last season in the NBA. They're a lot more extreme examples.

I mean... he just dropped 37 on former lottery pick whose main selling point was his defense in Wade Baldwin... We all know that beasty performances in SL mean very little but I'm liking his skillset and his defensive awareness and instincts. He sure needs to improve some things before he becomes an impact player in the league, but IMO there is definitely a 2-way star potential with him.

bought him a year after they bought McCaw. seriously hoping the 'ers would draft both with our late first and early 2nd picks. guess if you snooze, you lose.

Yep, similar story here. He was my most wanted player for Portland (despite being confident he'd be available by #26). Last year it was Hammons, Brogdon, McCaw and Gary Payton II probably in that order.

So you're more impressed by Tatum's poor shot selection?

Either defence is a joke in SL and good shots are easy to get, or they aren't.

Blazers are in a good spot with Caleb and Zach Collins. Caleb looks like he should be able to beat out the crappy guys vying over that starting PF spot right now. Eventhough Noah is still very young.

Yeah, defense is ****, but Tatum is shooting difficult fadeway crossover hookshots with his offf-hand for no reason.

IMO Mitchell looks both like a Eric Gordon with better defense and a little bit less outside shooting and like a smaller Wade with less ability to finish, worse dribbling and better outside shooting. He is also a fierce competitor.

Either way, he is definitely promising
He may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. He really is an idiot.

He scored 37 points off of open 3's and terrible transition defense. You think that tells you someone will become a star? Tatum doesn't have to take those difficult shots but at least he showed he can make them at the SL level. Answer me this question. Do you think Curry's long threes are an example of him creating good shots or taking difficult shots? Also, I'm genuinely impressed by Mitchell's defense.

Tatum's entire offense right now is isolation and post-up. That's not efficient offense.

Wouldn't say smaller because Mitchell has a much bigger wingspan. It's why he had no issues guarding Tatum. I think he'd be alright at SF in a lot of matchups.

He completely took Tatum out of the game. That was impressive.

Yes, good call. I thought he was a 10 year vet.

All I can say is I hope Stevens can coach him up and teach him how to play team basketball.

I maintain: Tatum looks more Rudy Gay/Harrison Barnes than anything. And that can be extremely useful as long as you keep them away from being a #1/#2 option, because that inexplicably gets those types paid to the max, and hinders whatever team signs them.
