Nevertheless, New York has been pushing hard to unload Anthony in the recent weeks, although it hasn't necessarily changed an asking price that makes the deal a challenge for Houston, league sources said. The Knicks aren't interested in the Rockets' older players and big contracts, so new teams have to be brought into the deal to find a way to satisfy the Knicks.

I think there's a decent chance that Kanter opts out too, so it could be an expiring. At worst his contract ends earlier than Lee and LFT, so it puts 2019 FA back in play. My estimate is that we would go from 17 to 36 in cap space. I think we should wait for 2020 though.

True. But then that makes their 2nd pretty much worthless :-?

How much playing time would Kanter even get here though? He would need to build up his value to consider opting out...

He clearly didn't see him. Little bounce pass would have done it, but Melo's face was in the defender's chest.

It would be the irony of ironies if Lin came back to the Knicks in a Melo trade and took his number 7..... you know that Dolan misses the media hype the Knicks got from that brief period of Linsanity but everyone knows, except for maybe Dolan of course, that it won't be repeated.
