Detroit gets Ryan Anderson, Memphis 2018 lottery protected pick and Houston 2018 2nd round pick
Memphis Trades Chadler Parsons, Andrew Harrison, 2018 lottery protected
Memphis gets Lance Thomas, Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza
why oh why?
Memphis - they are gutted and committed to something. Gasol and Conley are alone out there right now and Parsons has been a failure. They move Parsons contract and get three rotation players. Thomas fits in perfectly off the bench, Gordon starts at the 2 and Ariza starts at the 3. They all fit perfectly. Major team upgrade on both ends. Costs them a pick.
Det - they move Jackson, which is a priority, and it costs them Johnson, which they can live with. Except they get Memphis' pick so its cool. they love it.
Houston - they get Melo. Its gonna cost them though. The do move Anderson's contract but have to move Ariza and Gordon too. Lee fits in perfectly with them as an Ariza/Gordon replacement. Besides they have Paul and Harden and Melo. They need an off the ball defender like Lee, not Gordon.
NY - we lose melo and have to take on some contracts. Jackson is our starting PG. Its not pretty or popular but its ok. Parsons is our starting SF. Its very popular. He's gonna be a chick magnet and popular player in NY despite his contract and injury issues. However the real gems are 2 picks from Houston, Stanley Johnson who actually might be the starting SF and Harrison who we liked in the draft. Its not the best return but it keep people from getting fired and skewered in the press.
two picks, an young upside guy of quality, a potentially upside PG who can run and score with THjr, and a charismatic SF who can space the floor and moves the ball well and is best on a bad team where he's not the primary offense.
thoughts?
so we give away one of our more attractive options like Courtney Lee, Take the worst contract in the trade in Jackson and Parson's and we still get the lower pics and not Memphis 1st?? Even if we got Memphis first I would cry myself to sleep every night.
