Judge is a Beast
It's funny. I briefly contemplated coming up with a trade proposal that included Aaron Judge and/or Gary Sanchez a few years ago when they were top prospects for the Yankees' farm system. It's not like I knew they were going to be this good nor were they the primary focus of the deal. I think they were throw-ins for David Robertson or Andrew Miller when they were in New York. I forget who I was going to offer at the time but it probably included Andre Ethier, Chris Anderson, and/or Grant Holmes.
In any case, as much as I love Cody Bellinger, he's not at the same level as Aaron Judge. Dude is an absolute beast. His home-run totals might be helped playing in Yankee Stadium but he has so much power and he actually bats for a high average to boot. If you look at where the home runs were hit for both Bellinger and Judge, Cody was exclusively pulling his balls to right field while Aaron was spraying them all over the place and at much longer distances. Judge is practically a lock for AL ROY and a legit MVP candidate.
The Dodgers are in a better competitive position and I love what Bellinger brings us with his glove, speed, versatility, and clutch-hitting as well as his power. I'm happy with the players that we got and not really bemoaning that Cody is not Judge, though I do want to see Bellinger move more towards raising his batting average and lowering his strikeout percentage as he continues to grow as a player. I've had faith in Cody to do those things and continue to anticipate that he will make those necessary adjustments and improvements.

The current snapshot favors Judge.
Let's see if Judge sustains his current numbers. We practically have to. If he sustains this level of hitting, he's a Trout level player. I'm not sure that he is.
The Networks rave about his approach this year and how he's lowered the Ks but he lowered them from a rate of 44% last year to 29%. 29% has us concerned with Cody.
I believe Cody will be a plus defender for us over the course of his career. I do not believe so for Judge.
Cliffs:
- There's reason for me to believe Cody will trend up and Aaron Judge may land somewhere below where he is now.
- For that, I say table this until later.
- Current snapshot favors Judge

I bet you guys Cody is the better hitter than Aaron Judge when Aaron was 21 years old.
of course I don't think Cody will still be the better hitter than Aaron when Cody is 25 years old, but looking at their body shapes and the positions they play, Cody will probably have twice longer career in the majors, at least as a position player. I can't imagine how Judge's knees would hold up in the outfield with his nearly 300 pound girth. he will end up DHing before he turns 30 imo.
ehhhhh f it.

what a class act all the way.
no baseball announcer will ever come close to his grace, class, and standards. Vin will always be the best there ever was, is, and ever will be.

Re: 2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international
Looks like we're all in on an elite bullpen arm coming here at the deadline.
Looks like we're less interested in dealing for a starting pitching.
We being all of us in the forum. Not sure if TKain has been convinced on needing a bullpen arm though.
I'm not interested in a bat at all.
But I would hate for the deadline to pass and see Richie or Brandon (both?) hit the trainer's table for extended periods of time and wish we would have made a move.
Yes. Rich Hill has shut me up in recent outings.

Quintana just cost the Cubs their 2 best prospects.
Not an unreasonable price imo.
I thought the Sox would ask for more.

Dodgers' Equivalent Trade Package
Too rich for my blood, especially since I'm not particularly high on Jose Quintana being a fit for our rotation. The White Sox are really building up their farm system.

But you'd package Verdugo for a bullpen arm?
Naaahhhhhh.
I like Verdugo and Buehler better than Eloy and Cease respectively. They just arent where those 2 are on the rankings. That's my hesitation. I'm not sure what I'd consider equal value from my assessment but it is what it is.

Re: 2017 REGULAR SEASON LA Dodgers & international
I've been trying to maintain a level head about our first half.
But watching Puig deliver in a moment like that might change me. Might actually make me think something special is going on here.
