Might just be better off letting him play out his contract and waiting for Mills to **** us with another stupid free agency signing.

Even if the trade was great people here will still hate it in spite.......

david_james wrote:OK. Been playing around on the trade machine and came up with this:

Houston Receives: C/F Kyle O'Quinn and F Carmelo Anthony

Phoenix Receives: C/F Spencer Hawes and PF Ryan Anderson

Milwaukee Receives: C Tyson Chandler

New York Receives: F Trevor Ariza, F Jared Dudley, PG Matthew Dellavadova, MIL 2018 1st Round Pick (Top 10 Protected) and HOU 2020 1st Round Pick

- We can then immediately flip Ariza to a contender. We take on Delly's contract because we get a draft pick with it and he's the type of player who will know his role when it's time for him to go to the bench when Frank is ready. Also, Dudley comes and plays a key role as a mentor on this team after having played in this system under Hornacek in Phoenix previously.

I'd rather Bledsoe.

The Bucks are definitely a playoff team in this watered down East so we're not looking at a lottery pick. Houston definitely isn't a lottery pick team. Ariza is an expiring. But Dudley's got another year left at near $10 million so he's not exactly a "plus" of any sort. Dellavadova showed he's not a starting PG for any team that doesn't have Lebron James. What's also interesting is that without James and the other Cavs giving him clean looks at the basket, even his 3 point shooting turned from great to just slightly above average. The Knicks would basically be getting a scrappy backup guard that can play both positions off the bench with really not much skills. They already gave 2 years $9 million to Baker. Sure Baker shot terribly last season but he was actually a pretty good shooter at Wichita so I think that last season was not the norm and he'll uptick.

Haha - sorry no update. Last I heard BKN was still involved in a 4 team as a landing spot for an unwanted contract. I'll post any updates if I get em.

Wait, what happened to D'Angelo Russell? :D

Looks like Mills is trying to get his veteran guard to mentor Frank out of the Rockets deal rather than bargain basement shop the free agents.

That's what taints Melo for me. Dude used Brooklyn against us to get his money. Aight. So I really don't care that we're shipping him out now. We gave up mad **** even if they didn't turn out to be stars.

I agree man. However, in regards to the "what could have been." Stop it. Melo was not a great starting piece. He was a good one but so various other teams had better #1s. Better starting pieces during Melos career include:

Kobe
Duncan
KG
LeBron
Dirk
Wade
CP3
Pierce
Kidd
TMac
Vince
Nash
Durant
George
Pau
Prime Rose
Westbrook
Prime Dwight
Prime Roy

There's more that I could list but these are some of the no-brainers. Keep in mind, I'm not saying that they had better careers than Melo or were better than Melo every single year. Some are younger. At some point though, all of these guys were just better. If you're going to have a "what could of been" moment, at least acknowledge that the odds of Melo ever being a champion were slim.

This is misleading. Anthony has been in the league for 13 years. This makes it seem like all these guys were in their prime at the same time. And what's interesting is out of all the names on the list only half of them have won a championship.

While the tank is fun for us as fans to think about Jeff and Steve are fighting for jobs. Jeff this might be his last chance. If they Knicks stink bad this year again and he gets fired I am not sure he will get another head coaching shot. Steve is here trying to put together a young exciting team that wins ball games. If they walk out with Bledsoe and Harkless then he has put together just that a young team that will run and win games in the East.

If you read on, you would have seen that I said that. Some were younger. Some were older. The point is that Melo was not even close to the best player in the league at any point. There were a few seasons where Shaq was in the league and better. I listed the players that were better for 3 or more seasons...with the exception of a few injured guys. Also, the point that only half won a championship speaks volumes as well. There's a lot of players better than Melo that never won. The odds were never great.

And that's the problem. A true rebuild IS needed. Do you like being a treadmill team?
