I kinda agree. As scary as he is physically (not want to be rude here, but...), Crowder does not really impress me for his defense except for being versatile (which means he can switch on most wing players).
Bradley on the other hand could have been the perfect fit for Kemba (and Monk..). He has size, defense, court vision.. Hopefully he wont fit with the Pistons and become available in 2018...

Looking ahead we need to clear cap for next off-season. So I came up with this trade with us, Milwaukee, Utah, and Portland.

CHA in Parker, Johnson, Davis
CHA out Williams, Lamb, 2018 1st

MKE in McCollum, Diaw, Lamb
MKE out Monroe, Parker, Teletovic

UTA in Williams, Teletovic
UTA out Johnson, Diaw

POR in Monroe, CHA 2018 1st
POR out McCollum, Davis

We're so far over the cap that we can't really create meaningful cap space next offseason unless we trade Batum or Howard, and that would just get us barely under. We'd basically need to gut our team. I think we're going to have to wait until 2019 and go all in on cap space. The downside is that we wouldn't be able to offer Kemba an early extension, which could cost us a lot of money down the road, but once he signs his next contract any cap space we could have had will be gone. We're at just under 74 million for 2019/2020. Trading Marvs 15 mil expiring would make us a major player.

do we even have cap space after this deal? Remember to add Jabari's QO.

I think we can forget about cap space until 2019.

We'd have enough space to extend Parker to around 15 million and to sign a backup PG to the MLE while being right around the luxury tax.

Same here, I feel like we need to take a risk though if we want to separate ourselves.

Can't see a scenario where Portland would ever trade McCollum for a bum Monroe and a 1st round pick somewhere outside the lottery

Monroe isn't a bum, he's a useful player. And more importantly this trade gets them out of the luxury tax hell they signed themselves into last summer.

Only scenarios where Portland gets rid of McCollum for that low of a haul is if they have another wing break out into a star or he declines/gets hurt. Even then this trade still looks like highway robbery

Yep. McCollum is one of the best young two's in the league. I seriously doubt trading him is the way they would like to trim salary.

The Knicks are going to try again to get Carmelo to expand the list of teams he's willing to be traded to. Should we have any interest in a Carmelo for Williams/Lamb trade?

I think you have to consider it since the team looks to be going all in on this coming season and making a push for the second round.

No, the team we have now should have little problem with offense. Absolutely no reason to bring in a ball stopper like Melo.

If Clifford is creative with his rotations and has prominent roles for Kaminsky, Lamb, and Monk we should be fine. If he's rigid though and puts too much scoring pressure on Kemba I think we could struggle on that end.

I would definitely do it.

Howard/Melo/MKG/Batum/Kemba is an absolutely terrific starting five, and Zeller/Frank/Graham or Bacon/Monk/MCW would be a pretty nice bench unit as well.

I'd be even happier to see Melo spending a good chunk of time with the second unit just going to town on opposing team's benches.

There is absolutely no way two divas like Dwight and Melo coexist. And the thought that anyone believes Melo would agree to go to come off the bench is surprising.

I didn't say come off the bench. He can start, but I would love to see him getting significant burn with the bench unit
