A video referee is in discussion for the Eredevise.

Finally, a football association with a brain.

I wonder when big teams will be going after Kluiverts son. Kid looks good.

He has shown flashes but he's far from consistent at the moment. And also defensively he needs to put in some work.
But he can be good. He'll probably get more opportunities next season when Traore is gone

Tragedy for Ajax most talented player Abdelhak Nouri.

After having collapsed on the pitch in the friendly match against Werder Bremen last saturday due to heart problems, today the news came out that he has suffered brain damage with zero chance of recovery...

Just terrible terrible news... I'm totally heartbroken :'(

This is really terrible. They were so optimistic that he would get better in the last couple of days and now this. Brutal.

This seems to be happening a lot to football players. Collapsing on the pitch due to heart issues, I mean.

Are these issues that can't be screened via standard medical procedures? Is it the result of some kind of supplement/drug causing it? I don't really understand it. Horrible news, regardless.

All players are checked at start of new season and all was good.

He'll probably won't be able to talk, feel, move ever again.

20 years old, and a whole beautiful future ahead of him. Such a shame

Ajax unofficialy won their first title in four years yesterday. One match to go, 3 points ahead and GD +14.
After they won the Dutch cup a week ago that means we got our first double in 17 years.

So that softens the blow from the CL exit a bit.

Arjen Robben is making a comeback for his childhood club FC Groningen next year.

Always great if you can end things where it all started. Hopefully, he will score a couple more of those trademark Robben goals.

Seems like Belgium and Netherlands will combine their leagues.

Really? Hopefully that'll make it a "big" league. They certainly produce fantastic players.

The Belgium pro clubs voted in favour, but it'll probably take about five years to work out the specifics.
It's not even certain it'll happen.

I'm fully behind it, because it's the only way to grow.

Seems a shame for the smaller clubs but I guess that's the way of football these days. Will they have regional second divisions?

Absolutely no idea how they will organise it.
That's the big challenge imo.

There's obviously two sides:
Think it is a good opportunity to raise the competitiveness of the league and generate more income if they combine the best teams from NL and BE.
Shame for smaller clubs because even if they do great work, they'll not be able to play in the top division.
Might make it harder for NL/BE talents to make it to top flight football.

Who knows, maybe this is the start of a European Super League.

Well, there were some informal plans to start a league with the best teams of Holland, Belgium, Portugal, the Swiss, Austria, Scotland, ...
A little counter initiative against the super rich teams who want to form a league of their own.

Tbf, I really don't like the way football is going the last couple of years.
Champions League has nothing to do with champions anymore for example.

Neither do I. We are bowing more and more to the "big" teams of Europe. If they start to get CL places on historical records that will be going too far. I think the proposed CL expansion is bad for real football too - that's really a back door super league.

I don't know if I'm against a Dutch and Belgian collaboration. The countries are close neighbours and in fact a benelux league is not frightening to me. It may make the league teams stronger but sad for those teams that would have got EL places normally, they'll go and smaller teams will have to build further than before (Leuven for example). Such great players and football history. the league may make them into a new force.

I need to follow Eredivisie more. I do check FC Utrecht scores because I went to school in Utrecht.

I do not have much chances to see Eredivisie, but I just say here - Twente stan all the way.
