Has to be Allan Houston right?

I hope so. He deserves some kind of job, if for nothing else than to show what he can do.

Better than Phil.

I'm curious, what makes you believe that Allan Houston is qualified to be an NBA GM? I honestly can say I have no clue if he will be a bag of turds or some combination of Jerry West, Pat Riley and Red Auerbach. He literally has accomplished nothing so far as an executive. He could be great, or a disaster that does not know how to work the cap, evaluate talent or build a cohesive team.

To me this screams of nepotism, rewarding those that are loyal, versus hiring the most qualified individual. I'm hoping for the best, but absolutely expecting the worst. James Dolan's ability hire competent people is laughable.

Well, he has been an exec since being assistant to Walsh, worked under Grunny, has been groomed for a while to be eventual gm under Mills. He's well liked and has a good rep, has been involved at a high level in political fundraising (Obama, who is a friend). I don't see a problem with the Knicks grooming a guy who they think could be a good future exec, and then actually giving him the opportunity. We always seem to think it is better to grab some other guy with no actual experience being "THE guy" from another Org., but think it's no good to do it ourselves. It has been obvious for along time that Houston will eventually get a shot. I want to see what he can do.

In his time in Orlando, Perry helped draft Victor Oladipo (2013), Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton (2014), and Mario Hezonja (2015) in Orlando.

Perry was hired as a front office executive for the Detroit Pistons by President Joe Dumars in June 2000. As a member of their executive team, Perry assisted in building a roster that went to six Eastern Conference Finals appearances (2003-2008), two Eastern Conference Championships (2004, 2005) and the 2004 NBA Championship.

Afterward, Perry served as the assistant general manager for the Seattle SuperSonics (now Oklahoma City Thunder) for one season (2007–08).[3] He was part of the front office staff that drafted Kevin Durant to the Sonics/Thunder in the first round with the second overall pick. He then returned to the Pistons to become vice president of basketball operations from 2008 to 2012.[2]

On June 25, 2012, Perry was hired by Orlando Magic General Manager Rob Hennigan to become Hennigan's vice president and assistant general manager.[1] ESPN basketball analyst and former NBA player Chauncey Billups spoke highly of Perry as the assistant General Manager of the Magic, saying, "I love Scott Perry in the front office."[4][5]

In his time in Orlando, Perry helped draft Victor Oladipo (2013), Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton (2014), and Mario Hezonja (2015) in Orlando.

On April 21, 2017 Perry was hired to be the Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Sacramento Kings.

Glad we are getting this guy just in time to screw up our most important next two drafts.

“It’s all about the team, sacrificing and helping one another on a daily basis,” Perry, the Kings’ new executive vice president of basketball operations, told The Undefeated. “It’s all about development. We have to do a great job of continuing to develop and push young players to improve. It’s creating a culture that is accountable and conducive to winning. That’s the thing we have to do each and every day. You don’t wave a magic wand, but you commit to do it on a daily basis.

“I am very excited about this opportunity to help Vlade and ownership to get the Kings back to the culture they had a while back. There is a lot of young talent in the fold. Through the draft, we can create some pieces. It’s an exciting time.”

Do you all like what he did for Sacratomato?

He's literally only been in that job for a few weeks. He was with Orlando last year.

That was quicker than Derek Fisher left the Knicks. Do you know anything about what he did at Orlando, or if he was good?

He made a HUGE difference this offseason with Sacto.
Just gotta wonder how much power he'll have here.

Yes gotta wonder, but at least this is WAY better than giving it all to Mills.
