I don't have a problem with that. Some seem to think putting Melo at the 4 is going to turn a team, horrific at defense into a playoff contender. Now that's a joke.

Yeah Phil was the only one who wanted him gone..Dolan loves him and Mills and caa obviously do

I think Dolan and Mills see an opportunity to make the 8th seed in the east and as always lack patience and foresight and will go for it

All Melos gonna do at this point is hinder Kp's development another year and he's good enough to get us the 8th or so pick i the draft instead of top 5

We need to dump him ..as long as we're not taking hideous contracts back where better off without him for the long term but this franchise never looks at the big picture..

This makes no sense. If it was all Phil, why did rumors of dealing him start after he was let go? They were clearly shopping him and Begley is speculating we might keep him, but it's pretty clear we tried to move him and today doesn't precent that. Shouldn't we want our new GM in on this? Maybe he, as an actual basketball guy, can get a better deal than Mills can.

Tim and Melo starting would put us at the bottom defensively, everyone knows this. KP and Billy can't deal with the penetration (pause).

$30 million to blow on Tim Hardaway Jr Part 2. I don't trust Mills with cap space.

Low seed in the playoffs = terrible and unhelpful.

Top 3 pick = saving grace for this franchise

We ain't getting a top three pick man. You got some real tank ready teams such as Atlanta, Chicago, and the Nets in the East and then the West out of balance talent wise so it is good for like 3-4 more terrible teams. So we'd pretty much spend a season cheering for the Knicks to lose games that they have enough talent to win (even without Melo). Add to the fact that the East is terrible and the Knicks would pretty much be battling with Charlotte for the eight seed throughout the season. Trust me, it would be easier to make the playoffs than to sneak into the top 3 lottery pick.

Very well said. People still don't understand that regardless the Knicks would still be 6-8 range.

This is all PR boys and girls. Everyone just assumed that they'd give Melo away for anything or buy him out. This is a game changer. Puts the ball in Melos court where he has to demand a trade. Previously, he was just a victim. It also makes teams step up their offers. Lastly, if Melo does demand a trade, we don't have to give in to all of his wants anymore or we could enforce our NTC. I love the move.

Make no mistake, the Knick's are still trading him. This is just a great tactic to get leverage back.

It makes sense that they would pause as they have a new GM coming in, i'm sure they would like to get his opinion and let him work and see what he can come up with. In the end i'd rather they keep Melo than trade him for another bad contract, should only be moved for expiring deals, young prospects or draft picks, if not it doesn't make any sense to let him go. Some of his teammates seemed to like having him around according to KP, THJR for starters... maybe it puts pressure on the teams to find better deals in the near future, no need to rush into anything, Knicks need to do things the right way and win on deals they make if they want to get better asap.

Yes but they also mention Knicks interest to keep Carmelo Anthony. It could be a smokescreen we really don't know right now. Clearly Perry has impacted the Knicks train of thought and until we know what he's planning we can't assume that Melo will be traded.

this is what im talking about. Melo can hopefully put pressure on CP3 and Harden. This was our only leverage play. Enjoy coming back to a loser Melo. Or get them to pony up.

lol now they turn this back on Melo and if he initiated this scenario. Ridiculous...Someone needs to get in front of a mic and answer some questions. I hate how the Knicks just let the media run with all type of stories. Next thing you know they will be introducing Melo in the starting lineups over a sound of boos.
