Knight calls his own shot too much and any time I watched Phoenix where he was truly running the point instead of Bledsoe, the flow always looked bad on their offense.

I might be being unfair.

Houston wants to have their cake and eat it too. Ryan Anderson is toxic. You would need 3 first round picks to dump that contract onto a cap space. Carrol contract is nearly half size and it took a first and a second to dump that. We don't even consider Melo as a player here. You would have to give up one first rounder for Melo the player as well. Deal should be Melo for Anderson plus 4 firsts to be equal value. I am happy the management decided to change the narrative. Phil is out. We don't have mandate to trade Melo for rubbish.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yavqhmrq

knicks out: Melo
Knicks in: Harkless, Nicholson & Booker (waive)

Nets out: Nicholson & Booker
Nets in: Crabbe, Leonard & Houstons 2020 1st

Portland out: Crabbe, Leonard & Harkless
Portland in: Anderson & Capella (could waive)

Houston out: Anderson, Capella
Houston in: Melo

Why?

Knicks get rid of melo, get harkless and an expiring and a smaller contract that could be bought out or filler for trade down the road - don't be greedy guys as long as we aren't taking on more $$$ than melo was worth - could trade c. lee for b. knight or sign rondo now with this move

Nets take on meyers contract which they don't mind for houstons pick - get a guy in crabbe they wanted since they missed out on porter

portland saves a ton in tax and a serviceable player in anderson

Houston - well they get their half of banana boat

You aren't being unfair. Knight is a terrible facilitator.

Juco24 wrote:I know most people are down on Brandon Knight, but trading Lee for him makes a LOT of sense. We're in need of a stop-gap PG until Frank is ready. Knight's contract is no longer than Lee's. from the rumors, Phoenix is willing to part with him and he's only 25! Lastly, he played his best basketball under Hornacek!
Knight (Hornacek's version) Frank
Hardaway - Dotson
Willie - Oquinn
Melo - Kuz
KP - Thomas

Many will hate this... but per position - I'd expect improvement throughout, the triangle is scrapped, Knight's a MUCH BETTER defender than Rose. KP a year stronger and matured as with Hernangomez. This is a playoff team and a young team.

He's not a good PG even for a stop gap and has a bad contract.

Lee should be very tradeable and would look to get a pick for him or something.

Lee should be traded, but not for Knight. Could look to get a future pick, young player or at least expiring...contenders/playoff teams are usually interested in players like that around the deadline.

It's time to move on from Melo. We're In too deep. Even before we were in too deep it was time. This will get done.

Lee needs to go now. We need a point Baker is not a starter and Frank is not ready. It looks like melo staying also we need a point. Lee is 31 we want to go young. It's no other points that's available other then knight with out giving up a first to get them. Knight makes sense to me he fits the 25 and under rule and he played for our coach in his system. Plus he and Frank backcourt on D is deadly.

correct, and the pressure now swings to Morey. They will have the CP3 press conference today and he will sure get asked by the media and the fans what happened and you gotta make this happen. Plus getting pressure from Harden/CP3 + melo's agent...I don't see how Morey doesn't start moving additional pieces to make this work. He has too.

Lee is valuable as he is a player who doesn't need the ball and is a leader and a vet. Those players go a long way. However he probably wants to play for a winning team. He can help a lot of good teams.

The Melo to Houston deal is dead as far as I'm concerned. Knicks need to turn to Cavs to trade Melo there.
