Nice post. Melo wasn't really the problem last year, it was Derrick Rose.

This team needs a pass first PG to get the other guys involved. I can't remember how many times Rose checked off KP on the offensive end.

Basically this team needs player like Chris Paul.

More than half of the league needs a player like Chris Paul. :D

correct which is why the game plan was walk away from the table and have Morey call you back.

Whether its buying a house or a car. You never just accept the "final offer" you walk away and then someone gives up more...its the smart business play. HOU needs him.

I understand the "shiny new toy" syndrome, but essentially people want to trade in a Porsche for a Datsun. It's really mind boggling reading some of these posts about how badly people want to just dump Melo for anything. I've been watching this team since the 80's and they're major problem has been not being able to attract stars to play here. One guy has been here through the thick and thin, battled with crazy people in the front office, and has taken the high road in almost every uncomfortable situation he's been put in. And people want to dump him for garbage.

Only in NY I guess.

i think houston is gonna decide it would rather keep gordon and ariza then do the trade. so unless they want to give up multiple picks for someone to take ryan plus stuff for us, this thing won't happen.

Houston don't need melo they want him. And melo can play half a season up trade value then we trade him or Houston up the offer. Or Cavs step up soon with a good offer.

Gonna be an ugly situation if Melo is still here come training camp.

Team still will lose a lot of games anyway.

they def are keeping ariza and capella...I would find it hard to believe they wouldn't give up Gordon (push comes to shove). He's a bench player.

CP3/Harden/Ariza/Melo/Capella is a threat to GSW...what they have currently is not..

If the Knicks do keep Melo, then I might truly be done supporting the Knicks organization for a while. NO MSG Channel for a while would save me a lot of money. :D

What happened to getting younger and more athletic? The Knicks cannot win a championship with Melo and most fans just want him gone, including myself. And if Melo does really want to come back, then it's just more proof that Melo truly isn't about winning like Lebron. The best chance the Knicks have to win a championship is to draft young players like Denis Smith Jr. in future NBA drafts.

MELO, if you really want to come back to the Knicks, then you deserve whatever treatment you get from Knicks management and the fans. While you were out there busting your ass trying to get better for the up coming NBA season, Knicks management was caught on video laughing at you... like your work ethic is a JOKE. Phil Jackson was just the mouth, but the body was made up of a lot more people. Mills probably just want you back to extend the life of his Job. They don't want you back because they like you. Obviously, the biggest reason why the Knicks want you back Melo is because they are unsatisfied with your trade return value. Moreover, they might still try to trade you at the trading deadline.

How does an employee with a history of incompetent work performance gets a promotion to the highest position in his field of work? Simple, if his boss name is James Dolan. :peace:

It's still funny to me that anyone knows what they were laughing at while looking at the video of Melo working out. I doubt very much that they were laughing at Melo working out and that they were simply laughing at something else that had nothing to do with the fact the Melo was working out or laughing AT Melo at all.

Yes
But I also think we shouldn't be opposed to bringing him back. I think he's been a nice mentor to the young guys.

Nice post. Melo wasn't really the problem last year, it was Derrick Rose.

This team needs a pass first PG to get the other guys involved. I can't remember how many times Rose checked off KP on the offensive end.

Melo is actually quite valuable to this team; he makes a concerted effort to get KP involved on the offensive end, takes a lot of the heat off of KP (i.e. lack of double teams on Porzingis,) and the man was just a season removed from leading this team in assists per game.

If this team never picked up Rose last year (and weren't riddled with injuries,) they could've been playoff bound. That's how much of a negative impact Rose had on the team, especially on the offensive side (which is saying something considering he was abysmal defensively.)

If they hold onto Melo and can actually bring in a pass first PG, this team can compete for the playoffs. Now that might not sound enticing to a lot of fans on here, but I'm sure guys like KP would cherish the opportunity for some playoff experience. The team has to show improvement on a year by year basis if they truly want to build something here. Tanking annually will cause a lot more rifts than benefits.

it was why I felt Jennings should have been starting because, he at least tried to get guys involved. Too bad his offense (even as poor as it was) has gotten significantly worse. Couldn't shoot or finish around the rim. Neither one of them could provide what we needed. Should have gone after Rhondo that year (I was asking for that but got clowned by many of you guys)

100% spot on

I'm absolutely disgusted by this idea of giving him up for **** garbage. This is why we never have nice things

As much as the Knicks need to move on from Anthony I like this move. It's basically Mills telling Morey that he's not trying hard enough. I'm impressed actually. Previous front office decision makers would have caved (see...oh...pretty much every GM since...who was the GM of the 73 Knicks again?).

i don't see it like that. We need to see if KP/Timmy can be the scoring duo on this team. KP will never be an alpha will Melo still here. He looks up to him to much. KP needs to grow and only way to do that is to move Melo.

Hopefully morey gets enough pressure to add additional assets so that we don't take on long term contracts. I believe it will happen. Stepping away from a deal usually speeds up the process.

Knicks need right now is a guard who can break down defenses, Melo or no Melo. THJr is "ok" at that, but nothing special. Doesn't seem a strength of Frank N right now either.

That and there's literally no reason to add committed salary passed when Melo expires just to get rid of him unless it's a younger guy. We'd be better off keeping Melo than taking on Meyers Leonard truthfully. Even if it means losing out on Harkless.
