Whether its buying a house or a car. You never just accept the "final offer" you walk away and then someone gives up more...its the smart business play. HOU needs him.

Yes
But I also think we shouldn't be opposed to bringing him back. I think he's been a nice mentor to the young guys.

i don't see it like that. We need to see if KP/Timmy can be the scoring duo on this team. KP will never be an alpha will Melo still here. He looks up to him to much. KP needs to grow and only way to do that is to move Melo.

Hopefully morey gets enough pressure to add additional assets so that we don't take on long term contracts. I believe it will happen. Stepping away from a deal usually speeds up the process.

Meh
I'll agree to disagree here

Melo has shown to take the backseat plenty of times when KP went off last season. Don't see why he wouldn't do it again if KP is better next season.

He's not interfering with anyone's growth. That's Derrick rose lol

That and there's literally no reason to add committed salary passed when Melo expires just to get rid of him unless it's a younger guy. We'd be better off keeping Melo than taking on Meyers Leonard truthfully. Even if it means losing out on Harkless.

Yep

Morey is probably surprised the Knicks refused to bend over the table as usual in a deal.

Melo deserve to win I feel bad for him. If he stay he have to accept the number 2 option or we have to trade him. Or buy him out and stretch the contract. Use that cap room to sign Simmions then move on

It never did make sense for Portland.

These trade rumors were like a pyramid scheme where each team would ship a bad contract to another team, who would ship a bad contract to another team, etc...except no team wants to be the last one unless they are getting picks which weren't there

Off topic: So Lonzo wearing whatever sneakers he wants is to show that you have the freedom to wear what you want?

The clutchfans guys are so bitter. They want Melo so badly and are so butt hurt that we are actually doing due diligence for once. They know they can't beat GS without Melo and are turning their frustration into irrational hate. Finally we are the organization being smart for once. Why WOULDN'T we take a step back the moment we hire a real, actual basketball GM with experience?

No... Let's stop trying to go for it. And do things right for a change. Let the rebuild continue. If we over achieve, we can get more for players we still need to move.

Exactly and then Morey wanted to go to the Knicks and say "the best "worst" contract i could get you is Leonard - now take the deal"

It could be a leverage move. Will it work? Who knows.

Let me know when you can think of a team that will take Ryan Anderson's contract.
