It all started when Melo came here. He forced his way here in a trde, depleting us of all our assets - when he could have signed with us 4 months later. Instead, we failed to build a roster around him due to a lack of assets and Amare's knees falling apart.

How could we build talent around Melo when we had no picks, barely any cap, and no young talent?

With that being said, I blame Phil for resigning him and giving him that NTC. All parties here are at fault. Soon we'll be free of it all and can finally build our team.

It's not much different than when Melo came to NY, first there was nothing the Knicks had to get this supadupastar then after the trade they gave up a king's ransom for an inefficient selfish player.

They are attempting to push the franchise into acting on their false narrative through media whipped fan delusion.

It's gotten to the point that it's obvious that the intense scrutiny of the media on the Knicks makes it nearly impossible to build a team because they have their bullisht clickbait agenda and all that matters to them is their own attention, not honest reporting on the team.

Dolan may be inept but even the best people within professional basketball would be hard pressed to last through even a single season without becoming just fodder for the media's self interest meat grinder mindset.

Keep Melo is all teams are offering is garbage on longer deals, it's better to have him be tank commander for another season which is he has proven is his best skill, then he can opt out, I don't care.

No buyout, no garbage, no problem.

My gut says this is all PR window dressing...Melo was never leaving. Phil getting fired was the tell-tale sign Melo was coming back. All this trade talk coming from fugazi twitter accounts...yeah not buying it.

They can suck for another two years with him still here, whatever. Blowing your cap space on Hardaway and Baker was just another sign that this franchise will never get it. Dolan and Mills are stooges and it's gonna get worse.

The New York Knicks' decision to pull Carmelo Anthony off the trade block has led all sides to be frustrated. The Knicks were involved in four-team trade talks with Anthony expected to be dealt to the Houston Rockets.

Steve Mills is having second thoughts about a trade now that they're on the verge of hiring Scott Perry as general manager. Mills wants to give Perry a chance to settle into his new job before a decision is made on Anthony.

"That's crazy," a source told the News. "From what I understand Carmelo is under the belief that he's going to the Rockets. That's what the Knicks have been telling us; that they're trading him. I can't imagine that after all he went though last season with Phil (Jackson) he's happy with this."

Anthony agreed to waive his no-trade clause for the Rockets and has been preparing for that move for nearly two weeks.

Anthony is said to be dismayed over the events of the past 24 hours.

According to a source, Anthony went to the Knicks prior to the NBA Draft and requested a buyout. With that request denied, Phil Jackson said they would try to accommodate a trade.

The parameters of a deal are in place but there are some details that need to be finalized.

Melo holds all the cards. He has no value, which works in his favor and he's due close to 60 million. Either the Knicks buy him out at full cost or he's back and being a pain. Its really beyond comprehension how this front office cant get out of its own way. I guess it's possible they just dont give a ****.

Right now - CLE and that smug fk Morey are negotiating with an insane advantage. He'll only go to those two teams. Those teams know they don't have to pony up the assets. This might scare Melo into waiving his NTC to more teams like Boston, Toronto, Washington, SAS, OKC, etc. That alone will increase his value.

kp might miss some of training camp if it's early. but you're right. the season is starting early so camp will too.

This is business, not personal. Anthony has a contract, and he needs to honor it until someone else makes us an offer too good to refuse.

melo wants to suffer here then fine he has opportunity and thats opt out next summer 2018 and go and i am fine with that and also dolan isn't going to buy him out and play with his friend. Dolan like if you want to leave melo then opt out 2018 thats when you can leave but you opt in thats on you melo then you will look bad to media the only thing you like his money that is how it will be spinned.

Oh... so NTC actually means a player can block a trade then opt into a special Now Trade Clause stipulation? Duly noted..... :lol:

I said all parties are at fault. No one is blaming Melo for Amare's knees. Tyson Chandler is a good player - but he was arguably the best player Melo played with in NY. No way they were going to win a championship with that.

This only burns if you thought or expected a move to be made. I've been skeptical the whole time.

With such a small list of teams, they (Houston, Cleveland) are going to try to go as low as possible. I look at Mills stepping back as it being our price hasn't been met yet. Even if you hate Melo and want him gone, you surely have to appreciate getting as many assets for him as possible for the sake of the franchise moving forward, right? So we wait until we get what we want. How is this a bad thing?

Houston won't have the ability to sign him outright next year if Melo opts out either so.....

Exactly. Melos options are limited as well. This news should be rejoiced by Knicks fans.

Melo can...

Play out the year for our sht team and opt out after this year. Then he likely can't sign with Houston or Cleveland. I'm not sure what teams will have "max" cap space next year, but he'll have to take a play cut to play for "his" team.

Or he can play out the two years and still be on a team in transition and be miserable. He's contract is not hurting as that bad.

Or open up that NTC to more teams.
