Re: The MeloPause Trade Thread
Scott Perry is sitting at dinner with his wife at a restaurant in NY, where the owner (a huge Knicks fan) sends out a big banana split for him and her to share, on the house. Later that night, he lays in bed restless. The next day, he calls in Carmelo for a meeting.
Knicks start the season with KP, Melo, THjr, C. Lee, and a veteran PG on a 1 year deal.
Houston fails to meet expectations due to losing out on Carmelo. CP3 walks come the end of the season.
Summer 2018:
Cp3 becomes a free agent.
Dwayne Wade becomes a free agent.
Lebron James opts out of his final year, and becomes a free agent.
Carmelo opts out of his final year, and becomes a free agent.
Knicks trade Tim Hardaway Jr, and a 1st round pick to the Chicago Bulls in a sign and trade for D.Wade
Knicks trade Joakim Noah, Frank N, and a 1st round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for Demarre Carroll
Knicks sign CP3 to a reasonable contract.
Knicks sign Dwayne Wade to a reasonable contract.
Knicks sign Lebron James to max contract.
Knicks re-sign Carmelo Anthony to a reasonable contract.
Team Bananaboat 2018:
CP3
Wade
Lebron
Melo
KP6
-Lee/Baker
-Carroll/LFT/Kuz
-WHG/KOQ
Finals MVP: Carmelo Anthony
Dream sequence ends - camera blurs and wiggles as bright light covers your view of the 2018 Champion New York Knicks as that image transitions into the image of a banana sundae sitting on the table between Scott Perry and his wife in their first night out in NYC.

Re: The MeloPause Trade Thread
1- Melo only has to open up his list of teams he's willing to go to if he really wants to leave NY, which if anyone has been paying attention for the past 7 years, we know he doesn't. Besides, why would any player looking to win, leave a crap team to go to another crap team? Ya'll really make 0 sense when talking about what players should do and feel smh.
2- Pausing the trade talks makes sense for very basic reasons: Getting the new GM up to speed and involved in the proceedings, helping to create leverage lost during the Phil Jackson crap, etc. Nothing wrong with talking with Melo, thats just professionalism and business.
3- Recall the boogie cousins situation w/ George Karl. Everyone thought he'd be gone much sooner than he was but the kings didn't trade him at the time because they were killing his value. They raised it up, then moved him and got a much better return then they would have had they traded him at the beginning of the Karl shenanigans. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the thought process in part here. Why trade Melo for a bag of beans? We weren't planning on winning or being in the playoffs this year according to alot of you, and Melo can't win here since it's all his fault we haven't won in the past 4 seasons so it would seem to me like having him here doesn't cause us any issues.
I've nvr been a fan of trading Melo as I think he gets entirely too much blame for the failures and NO credit for the successes. That said, i'm on board with it as long as you get value back. If you can't, keep him. Maybe you catch lightning in a bottle and find a way to build a good team with KP as its focus and Melo playing like Dad Melo. Someone else said it and I agree, its harder to get into the top 3 draft then it is to get into the playoffs where our young guys will really get what they need. The most Knick thing to do in this moment is trade him for Nazr Mohammed and Eddy Curry since we all know how that went.

i'm at least glad the Knicks are willing to walk from a trade that doesn't fit what they want. It'd be nice if these reporters could get some info on what the proposed deals looked like. Who the hell cares how Melo feels.

armelo Anthony, Rival Teams Dismayed By Knicks Pulling Him From Trade Talks
JUL 14, 2017 12:06 PM
The New York Knicks' decision to pull Carmelo Anthony off the trade block has led all sides to be frustrated. The Knicks were involved in four-team trade talks with Anthony expected to be dealt to the Houston Rockets.
Steve Mills is having second thoughts about a trade now that they're on the verge of hiring Scott Perry as general manager. Mills wants to give Perry a chance to settle into his new job before a decision is made on Anthony.
"That's crazy," a source told the News. "From what I understand Carmelo is under the belief that he's going to the Rockets. That's what the Knicks have been telling us; that they're trading him. I can't imagine that after all he went though last season with Phil (Jackson) he's happy with this."
Anthony agreed to waive his no-trade clause for the Rockets and has been preparing for that move for nearly two weeks.
Anthony is said to be dismayed over the events of the past 24 hours.
According to a source, Anthony went to the Knicks prior to the NBA Draft and requested a buyout. With that request denied, Phil Jackson said they would try to accommodate a trade.
The parameters of a deal are in place but there are some details that need to be finalized.

Melo holds all the cards. He has no value, which works in his favor and he's due close to 60 million. Either the Knicks buy him out at full cost or he's back and being a pain. Its really beyond comprehension how this front office cant get out of its own way. I guess it's possible they just dont give a ****.
I cant take it any more...
If Melo had no value Houston or Cleveland wouldn't want him... The KEY HERE is for the KNICKS to stay firm and not waive their "no trade clause" unless they get value in return.
Regardless of what some of you think of Melo- Melo gives any stacked team a legitimate chance of winning it all. If I'm the Cavs I would give the knicks whatever they wanted not names Lebron, Kyrie, Love or TT to get the deal done. This is the window for the
Cavs to win 2 more with a stacked Lebron team.

CP3 should've went to San Antonio and Melo could've joined him there.

not much but we are in the same exact boat as we would be with if we were negotiating with the spurs.

Maybe the Spurs could get something better done. It's pointless to speculate anyways.
