Not really.

I'd put that like a million steps below the Mason fans in the second round.
c'mon that's a homer statement and you know it!

As for the rest of your post, being right about DSJ doesnt mean Fox was a bad pick.

It aint a homer pick.

Wait till we've got a speedy guy like WCS to work with who can finish above the rim instead of Papa.

Fox is more of a team basketball guy.

Fox also plays good defense.

They also need to focus more on spacing though. If they think Fox will reach his potential playing in a double post option offense they're delusional. Oddly enough, once again, timing, timing, timing, Fox would be great in George Karls draw and kick offensive system.

I really like how Dallas is running their rebuild. They're jumping in head first and so far it's paying dividends.

I'd really like to see what he does with the pick and roll and using that speed. But he has to master that jumper for one...

But with an athlete like WCS or Randolph setting him up, will be interesting.

Also with Buddy to extend the floor and Jackson/Vince I think it could work out pretty nicely.

Just remember how they utilized WCS in last year's SL. And who can say it didn't work for him seeing his offensive game.

This year, they forced Hield to be a ball handler, play maker in the half court, and also to either create his long range shoot (not floater, not mid-range) or going to the rim over dribbling.
They forced Skal to demand the ball at the post and play iso rather than playing pick and pop.
They forced PapaG to have the ball on high post and distribute (with Skal at times, as a double post similar to Princeton offense) while his backup Cooley did not get touches there.

So I'm quite surprised that lot of posters here forget how these three had played in NBA and lost their confidence on them based on SL play.

Exactly. This coaching group has done a fantastic job of bringing new pieces to the players games. Keep it going I say.

This whole roster is hot garbage. I hate Papagiannis sloth game and stone hands. Skal has a long way to go. Jackson is hit and miss. Fox has a way to go and needs to get in weight room and improve jumper. I said it in earlier post but Smith is a much better all around player right now.

Good news is the regular team will be garbage too and in contention for #1 pick. See you all in October.

Are you really this fickle? It's a few games of summer league. Skal can have a breakout game next game and you'd be ready to crown him MVP.

Everyone wanted Denzel Valentine or Wade Baldwin and they have looked absolutely terrible. Papa G had a much better rookie season and has much better potential.

It was a very weak draft so not sure others will be better.

That being said Pappa simply has to stop bringing the ball down every time he catches a pass in the post. I can't count the number of times he was stripped because he had to take a rhythm dribble or be brought the ball down to his waist. It's a high school error that he makes over and over.

Fortunately it's a mental error that's easily corrected with drills and experience. More playing time in the D-league will help with this.

I find this take fascinating. If this is true and the coaching staff is using Summer League as basically a training camp, I can see the rational. The idea of developing our young core by getting them out of their comfort zone in order to broaden their game sounds kind of experimental, but I really hope we can see it manifest itself in the regular season. But maybe it's something that wont bear fruit for another year or so with the sophs. A couple years with the rookies.

Don't forget we have one more game vs the Suns tonight at 7

Even if we had the loss, still get that game.

If there's even one player who makes the opening night roster playing, I'll watch. I'm that hardcore.

I hope so. They aren't very open when it comes to who's going to play in Summer League games. I've only ever found out at the beginning of games for the most part.

No Chriss so Papa will have to wait until the regular season to get his payback.

Assuming he's not in Reno.
Big assumption, right? :falloff:

In case anyone was concerned about Papa after his fall, no worries, he just busted his @$$. Literally.

A precautionary MRI conducted today on Kings center Georgios Papagiannis at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento revealed a bruise (hematoma) in the gluteus Maximus muscle. He is expected to make a full recovery.

I saw the fall, I thought he might have broken his tail bone. He'll be having a rough couple days nonetheless.

Papagiannis had a PER of 11.26 in the 2017 Summer League, compared to a PER of 1.13 in the 2016 Summer League. That's a good jump, especially when Summer League is not a flattering place to play for players like him. I know, I have this weird fascination with Papagiannis. The fact that so many see so many flaws in him makes me higher on him, because when he fixes those flaws over time, he's going to surprise a lot of people. It's kind of like rooting for the underdog.

Just a reminder, Kris Dunn had a PER of 30.26, Trey Lyles had a PER of 32.6, Emmanuel Mudiay had a PER of 29.53, and Terry Rozier had a PER of 37.38 in the 2016 Vegas Summer League. Those players did not convert Summer League success to regular season success. It should be taken with a grain of salt.

SL isn't really about stats, for me it's about showing what tools are in your tool box. Papa was underwhelming, so was his athleticism. The PER or ppg is irrelevant really.

But his "tools" aren't underwhelming, which is kind of the point. I think we've all been at least mildly impressed with what we see when he demonstrates what he can do when he puts his tools on display. The frustration comes with his inconsistency or inability at times to display these tools. That being said, I think it's fair to cut him some slack. We are talking about a 7'2" "kid" that is just coming to the end of physical growth. It's now a curiosity to see how well he grows as a player into his body.

Fingers crossed.
