It'd be funny to see LaRussa take on the role of what Colletti is currently doing for the Dodgers with Colletti essentially taking on LaRussa's former role as decision-maker and team-builder for the Diamondbacks.

Update: We're not going to be saved from Ned Colletti, after all, as Arizona has hired Mike Hazen away from Boston.

This isn't really MLB news as it is happening overseas in NPB but I wanted to note that ex-Dodger and revered Japanese statesman is going to retire after the Japan Series, which I believe is that nation's equivalent to the World Series.

I was jealous the Nats dealt for him but would never ask F&Z to pay the price they did.

angel hernandez aint any good tho. but 90% of mlb umps totally suck at calling balls and strikes. we need computerized strike zone reader.

BTW when you see the Major League office give an answer about the balls being juiced or not when no mainstream media or players union was asking the question in the first place, you know they are juiced.

This actually fits the Cubs' plan of drafting position players to capitalize on the market inefficiency of over-valuing risky pitching prospects over position prospects while paying for established pitchers in free agency or trading for them.

I'm not sure the Cubs farm is good enough to sustain two big deals like that.

Suggests to me:
- They'll try to be big players next Int'l Deadline if possible.
- Arrieta is getting shown the

and they'll be compensated via his qualifying offer.

I honestly like Quintana more for us than the Cubs. They got him because their SP isn't good anymore. I'm not sure he's the splash you need to remedy that.

We have injury history and question marks from Kershaw on down. He's that durable 200 IP arm on a cheap deal we can use.

I view him as a 2. 2nd tier.
Not a co-ace ala Greinke when he was here.
