Drummond highlights at the Drew

Post#1 » by MotownMadness » Sat Jul 15, 2017 6:07 pm

Just the Drew league but he actually killed it this year instead of like last year where bank accountants were thumping dunks on his head. Pretty much scored everything with a crafty face up game here.

Thoughts on him being back down there again?

Did Andre just hit a three pointer and a decent looking stepback jumper?

Looks out of shape and he travels when he puts the ball on the floor. Skills are suspect.
Better get back to being a lob threat. Tyson Chandler on steroids, so his team can start winning.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

He's free to do what he wants I guess?

I'd rather hear he is in the gym working directly on shortcomings of his game. (footwork, better post position, defense, free throw shooting, fitness level)

I don't really see how his participation in the league leads to him being a better player in the NBA. <shrugs>

His team was playing against a team who only had five guys and had to play the whole game. They also showed up late and were penalized points against them for every x amount of time they were late so started the game down points as well.

Smh. Watching a few minutes of this just made me depressed for our upcoming season. Why does this guy have to play in this crap league? This actually makes him feel good about himself to barely beat up on terrible talent? Such a child it makes me sick that we paid him / he makes so much money.

Just tell Drum next time we play the Cavs or Warriors that this is a Drew league game.

I'm being partially sarcastic but do you have evidence that shows that he does? If so, it certainly isn't coming from game tapes from last year.

If Dre were actually performing up to his 25 million dollar salary I'd be right there with you CGC. But he's not. One would hope that he'd take personal responsibility to improve himself of obvious holes in his game. Maybe he is and we haven't seen it? It didn't happen last summer for certain.

Nobody would be saying a thing about him playing in the Drew league if he played defense and shot free throws.

Shame on us for being frustrated for seeing him do something in the offseason that risks injury and doesn't seem very helpful at improving his skills. smh.

Looks like a retired NBA player against high school kids.

I don't know why the team doesn't seem to be concerned about his size. There's no reason for him to be 300lbs in this league. He ain't facing Shaq. His quickness would improve significantly if he weighed 20+ pounds less.

while i see what you're saying, it's a little different with drummond.

i'm assuming (so forgive me if i'm wrong), but most people here have "normal" jobs. drummond is by far the highest paid player on the team and thus should be earning that money.

drummond is disappointing to a lot of people because it's like he was promoted to CEO of a major company and now goes golfing three times a week. it's no lie that a lot of people don't go 100% at their respective jobs but they usually get paid accordingly.

drummond might be the single best example of someone in the nba winning the genetic lottery.

also, can i just say how much i hate the drew league/any kind of glorified streetball? it seems almost pointless when nobody is trying on defense.

Gores is the CEO. Stan the GM is an SVP. Stan the coach is a director. Drummond is a senior associate/manager. If management doesn't see him as improving, then they need to step in.

As the years go by, Drummond's value continues to drop

Package him for two young players and let's move on

Because he clearly needs to use that size and mass for all those post ups! /sarcasm

I swear, our efficiency last year would've been improved if we cut all of those awful forced post ups we gave/TOs to Dre. In this league, a traditional star center is the least important as opposed to a star guard or forward. We zigged when most successful teams zagged and it is costing us.
