Bamba ain't close to Jordan as an athlete though

Given the depth of the center position in the 2018 draft, the general unpopularity of centers, and the fact that we will have two draft picks to maneuver with, I trust that if we want a solid C, we'll get one, no matter how well we do this coming season.

... Just noticed that as of today, it looks like the 2019 draft also looks to have center depth. Nice. The reason for the decline of the position is, IMO, less the style of play and more the level of big man talent that's been coming into the league over the last decade plus. If there is to be a small revolution, this is a likely starting point, and I sure hope we're in on it.

Since it seems a foregone conclusion that if Chandler is traded, possibly Bledsoe and maybe even Knight - the fire sale is on and building for future. Suns will probably get a top 6 pick

A big man would be nice - but if its Michael Porter or the Euro kid - that's fine too. Don't get cute - always go BPA

Tough to pinpoint the range we'll be drafting in next year with so much shaken up and so much that can still change. The West keeps getting strong across the board and the East continues to decline outside of the top few teams. I think it'll be us, Dallas, LA, and Sacramento at the bottom of the West next year with Minnesota improving a lot, Denver potentially landing Millsap, and NO locking down Jrue.

The East is tough to call, there are so many bad teams and someone has to win games. Nets, Magic, and Knicks (especially if they lose Melo) should still be bottom of the barrel in the East next year. Pacers and Bulls should see a steep decline after losing their star players without netting much immediate contribution in return. Hawks will be worse if they lose Millsap, but I think they could still float in the middle of the pack.

A lot depends on how we treat the second half of the season. If we blatantly tank it away again, then it'd be no surprise if we ended up bottom 4, but if we finish out the season with our starters then I think we probably end up in the 6-10 range going into the lottery.

Possibly reclassifying. The top of the upcoming draft could be downright stupid.

I know we already have Ayton, but if we dont land another hometown stud... i'll be mad.

That's why we will have an insane top 5 with Doncic, Porter, Ayton, Bamba and Bagley and we will finish with the 3rd worst record and drop 3 spots in the lotto drawing for the 6th pick.

I love that you adopted Phoenix as your hometown. Do you watch the Cards, DBacks and Coyotes? And smart choice adopting the Wildcats instead of the Sun Devils as well.

you know it.

only way I can see a top 5 talent drop down is if McD promises the draftee and his agent good starting minutes right off the bat. And that draftee will then refuse work outs.

Suns need a dominant big man and to me Ayton and Bamba are the targets. Bagley and Porter are amazing but it would mean Suns need to trade some of the players they already have... whilst a big man will slot right in and play huge minutes.

I agree. If we're competing against the wolves and Sixer's moving forward we need someone that can hold his own against Kat, embiid, and any other true bigs that come along.

Man we need a top 5 pick this year if Bagley enters. Any of Bagley, Porter, Doncic, Ayton, and Bamba would be awesome.

Hard to say about the top tier at this stage, there's always a guy or two that bombs out from pre-season predictions like Labissiere / Giles from the past 2 drafts.

I'm not as hyped on Bamba and Ayton as others as I've read the biggest question marks on them both are mental / toughness and that is risky for 7 footers. I'm yet to be convinced on the ceiling of Porter and Doncic due to not being standout athletes. At the same time I hope the top guys have great seasons and establish themselves as star prospects given we're a good chance to be selecting from that pool.

While I said in the same thread that we need a stopper for those guys in Bamba, do you take a guy compared to Noel or someone compared to Garnett(Bagley) ? In case the scouting team believes the comparisons are accurate, there is no chance they don't take BPA.

I'm not sure Bamba is McDonough's style, especially compared to Bagley and Ayton who are more mobile and have shooting range (Bender / Chriss prototype).
