Deveny: Hornets interested in Jordan Hill, Ilyasova, TJones, and Willie Reed

I wouldn't mind if the team brought in Jordan Hill on a minimum contract as a third center. With both our our main guys having past injury issues, it doesn't hurt to have that insurance in case something were to happen. I'd imagine any of these guys we pick up would not be seeing playing time anyway, so might as well fill up the position with the most risk of injury.

I imagine with the minute load that Dwight, Cody, and Frank will dominate, it probably doesn't matter a lot who our last string center is.

Jones is too slow to play SF, he has some ball handling skill tho and also too soft to play PF, I expect we'll see a lot of his shots around the rim get blocked if we sign him. He could shot 3 but has a very slow release. That being said, he paired well with Howard when he was with the Rockets and i would like to see him here as our 5th big.

Let us remember that he will not be a starter at either position.

Could we afford Allen? I like them both but the other guy seems more in our price range.

Not likely. Most playoff teams are likely interested for the same reason we are. Allen is an elite defender.

I figured we wouldn't be in play for Mbah a Moute. Oh well, I'm up for signing T. Jones now. He can't stretch the floor, but at least he has shown the ability to defend and rebound in the past.

Not hearing much of anything on the free agency front. Could be the usual Cho silent treatment, which makes his zen work so well. It did give us Dwight Howard without so much as a whisper before hand. That was fun. But I think this is just like fishing for carp...drop in a dough ball on a line and see if the big one bites.

Meanwhile, I like Rakeem Christmas, Terrence Jones, Tyler Zeller, Jordan Hill, Chris (cough) Humphries, Adreian Payne, James Michael McAdoo, Willie Reed, the ghost of Tiago Splitter and David Lee's knees - not in that order.

I think the Hornets need some nasty. Wonder if Matt Geiger is still alive? Mitch McGary is in the Witness Protection Program, isn't he? Heard that he's hiding in China. Of course, he'd still be suspended if he were to sign, but hey! Nothing ventured.

I'm not sure there is a wing out there that's both available and would help us with cap flexibility. An idea though is to swap Williams out with two similar, but cheaper players. Maybe a trade with Denver where they send us Arthur and their rookie that has no place on their roster in Lydon for Marvin?

We only need to cut 2-3 million and renounce Weber/JOB to make a run at Speights. In a different thread I posted a Denver trade for Will Barton that would work, but also had us taking on Darrell Arthur (he can shoot at least) and would probably require giving up a pick. Wilson Chandler would also work. I'm not sure either of those guys are really available, but any rotation quality wing making 9-11 million would work, players making less could be packaged with bad salary.
